I rarely go back and play old games, do it's no big loss. Online Pentions never seem to work anyways, so there is no point.
Well its really not worth 30 seconds of my time if I don't even plan on playing my old xbox games for 30 seconds.
But it WAS worth 30 seconds of your time to tell us that you didnt have 30 seconds to spend on filling out a 30 second petition?
The few seconds I put into a reply is well worth it. Signing an online pention is pointless in my opinion.
While I'm not a fan of Microsoft's policies, we might want to cut them a bit of slack for the moment regarding the Xbox2. Since it's still a few years away, I doubt they've got all the details hammered out, so they don't want to guarantee backwards compatibility prematurely. It probably wouldn't be difficult to implement, regardless of what direction they choose to go, but I think they're just trying to avoid promising something they can't deliver.
It's a new chip, I doubt they'll do it. I'll be keeping at least one of my two XBox's around anyway, to play my old XBox games.
Ya know what? In a few years, you won't want to play the old games anymore. Just keep the old system, if you want to take it out of storage and blow off the dust, the euphoria of playing "old school" games will soon wear off.
The playing "old school" games is what has kept a very large amount of GameBoy sales going for years now.
Hey, I like to play Old School stuff as much as anyone. I still break out the old system to play Street Fighter 2, but after a certain point, every company just has to make a clean break and take a leap up in technology.
I'm not sure why allowing some to play their old games on the new would hold back technology. Doesn't ps2 have the ability to play the old ps games?
Yes, it does....I play all my old Need for Speed games on it all the time. I think every new system should be compatable with old games.......some people just can't retire their old games, like me
If they are trying to move foward and make a better system then by all means they should do so. If keeping it compatible with old games will hurt the system then they shouldn't do it. Just keep your old xbox.
