Kenny Rogers - you know, you might like him, you might hate him. Bottomline, he pitched Game 2 of the World Series and according to La Russa the man didnt have dirt on his hand. Pictures Story What do you think? Does this explain his postseason success despite a horrible playoff track record? Personally, it didnt look like dirt to me - and while I hate cheating in baseball, it happens all the time so I'm use to it now. Heck the Red Sox have cheaters (as much as I want to deny it), the Yanks are filled with cheats, Giants, Cubs, heck even the Royals.
It wasn't dirt, supposively FOX will be releasing pictures they have of a start in June when the cameras caught the same thing.
anyone see his interview after the game when the reported directly asked him about the meeting on the mound in the first, He totally lied
In the paper today they show images of the "dirt" on Kenny's hand on July 20th, Oct 6 vs. the Yankees and Oct 13th vs. the A's. Its not dirt. I he plays again and this time they need to check his hat, his glove, everything.
he washed his hands after the 2nd inning, why couldn't the Cards hit or score off him in the 3rd / 4th / 5th / 6th / 7th or even the 8th inning? The media is blowing this all out of proportion and the teams are leaving it alone , why? because all teams have a 'card up their sleeve' not just the Gambler  I expect that is this series goes 6 games the Umps will give Kenny Rogers a glance but not blow it way out of proportion , like the media... There was something on his hand no doubt , it was removed and he still dominated....
You are proud of that line? I have to say it is pretty clever. Anyway, I think alot of pitchers do the same thing and Rogers should feel luck that La Russa didn't get the umps to check him before the 1st inning was over because he would definitely be suspended for the remainder of the World Series. We will have to wait till game 6(if needed) to see how Rogers pitches. And I think if he was to get rocked in a game 6 it would be more because he is under a microscope than the lack of "dirt".
I hope it goes 6 , just to see that the substance makes no difference. Kenny is focused , you can see it , he has alot of detractors and especially the media ( since he will stomp a mud hole in camera men's asses ) he has alot to prove... still doesn't explain why he went to pitch shutout baseball for 6 more innings though...
Dirt or no dirt, Kenny straight up owned the cards that game. Besides, the series is tied, it's even, lets just move on and let the best team win, doesn't matter whether he had pine tar on his hand or what not. Because you know for a fact his hand will be clean in game 6 if it gets that far.
I think it wasn't dirt. La Russa is just whining cause he knows the Tigers have their base"balls" now EDIT: Upon further review... That couldn't have been dirt/mud. It honestly looked like pine tar to me. Or he missed himself with the toilet paper and didn't notice it.
Have you ever used pine tar? It doesn't wash off easily, plus he didn't even wash them, he just wiped his hand with a towel. The tackiness is still there. Plus he was strangely holding onto his glove the whole game. Whatever. its over. They better check his glove, hat and everything else prior to Game 6.
I'm not really up to date on methods of cheating in baseball and such, but what exactly does pine tar do to help you pitch? does it give you a better release? better grip or something? lol
The batting coach for STL said that Rogers was scuffing balls using his fingernail or something. Thats what the announcer said tonight.
I am no fan of Rogers. I do not think that was dirt. With that said, the dude pitched a hell of a game after he washed his hands.
