The Xbox "Falcon" - Quieter Fan, HDMI , Cheaper and R.R.O.D. Addressed?

Well, I just received my 360 back and I guess I got another dinosaur. It says manufacturer date May 2006 on the back of it but they claim that if necessary it "has been upgraded to the latest firmware and technical improvements for durability and playability". They also say it is another 360, not the same as my old one and it does have a different serial number. Is it possible they kept the same casing and put in new hardware?

 

You can shine a light inside to see if it has the new heatsink.

 

How would I be able to tell?

 

does it have an HDMI port on the back?

I can't say I notice it being any quieter, but then again, I had a 360 in a few months, and hardly touched it for a few months before that, so its been a good while. Still seems loud, but once you get in a game, I never hear it anyway with the surround sound loud.

 

I bought the Marvel/Forza bundle. Manufacture date is 9/2/2007. Based on the post in the Xbox forum I do not think it is a Falcon. I think mine is a Zephyr.

It is noisy. Alot noisier than my original Xbox(es). Compared to some friends that have a launch 360 though, mine runs alot cooler and quieter. It's the disc drive that makes a ton of noise. Regardless, I bought an extended warranty. So far no problems but I have only had it for a week.

 

well after flashing a flashlight in my box i still cant tell.. but i can tell you it is about 50 times quieter than my old one and 50 times cooler then my old one..

How to find a Falcon model 360 in stores

Based on the info in this thread, A Falcon model Xbox 360 MUST BE:

1. Lot #0734 (Halo 3) or later (all SKUs)
2. Manufactured on or after 8/24/07(An HDMI Premium manufactured on 8/19 has been reported as 65nm.)
3. Team FDOU (Other teams may be Falcon as well, but none have been reported)

H3 360's are Falcons? I am still confused :-? I will look for lot # 0734 or higher I assume and take my chances then... I could always sell H3 seperately to recoup some cash...

Future Shop has them listed @ $449.99 Here if I were to sell H3 for $75.00 I am paying less than a premium system....

 

well the one i just got is lot #0735 it was the holiday bundle with forza and marvel and was manufactured on sept 9, 07 and does have the hdmi on it

 

but can you tell if it has the Falcon chipset... this is getting crazy!

I think the Team FDOU exception may be the 360 Arcades (formerly the Core systems), as there's been some people who have gotten Falcons on those systems with Team CSON and Lot 735+. I'm hoping I can find someone to buy my Premium (that has actually worked fine for a year and a half) so I can pick up one of the Arcade systems and pray it's a Falcon.

 

what is the SKU # ? is it the new chip?

 

I have two falcon systems and they run great. I had a minor glitch in a game against Latdogg last week. My screen went black during our Madden game and had to restart my xbox. I thought it was the video card, but I haven't had the problem since.

 

I thought you could tell by power supply....
