I'm so amp'd for Rock Band, Who else is getting this game?

Lead drummer OldTimeHockey reflects on how the band came up with their name:

"Well, to be quite honest, I was on a trip with my curling team and we were told we needed to bring a mascot to a tournament. We did not have one, but our dinner stop at the local Cracker Barrel produced one. While waiting to be seated, as team captain I was browsing through the store and found a stuffed animal representing a possum. Immediately he purchased said possum and contrived a story that the possum would be the perfect mascot because if a team beat a possum, who cares...its still a possum; but to lose to a possum would be the ultimate insult. Not satisfied with just being a possum, I came up with the idea that we needed something with oomph. If the Ducks of Anaheim can be Mighty, we can be Psychotic. And so it was...the band started back in Guitar Hero II days and is still rockin'!"

 

Isn't there something in the IGN article about some special feature none of the guitars but the Rock Band one can do. I can't recall, but it was some sort of special feature.

Edit: "extra guitar effects" whatever that is.

 

An E! True Hollywood Story; They Played Possum With Their Lives: The Psychotic Possums Story, Sex, Drugs and Downloadable Content.

 

I'm not a guitarist, so I'm unsure what it actually does, but on the Rock Band Guitar, there was a rocker switch I noticed that some real electric guitars have.

 

Has anyone heard a offical release date? I'm reading on the xbox forums that it is not out until december. Any help would be appreciated!

 

Its definitely 11/20 (my wife reserved it for my bday present) for North America. It is coming out a little later in Europe I believe...

I have this reserved, just waiting for the 20th to jam out. Can't wait to get on the mic.

 

In rockband, it will allow you to add effects like delay, reverb, etc... to change the sound of the guitar if you like. There will be 5 different modes for that switch.

 

I finally played the demo at a great length yesterday. I did all the setup for the demo at our store. I got to say, this game has got quite the learning curve. The guitar is quite different than GH. The strum bar isnt clicky clicky, its more smoother and harder to adjust to. But the fret buttons are in a great location and trying to do solos with the closer frets are insane.

Drum wise, my first impressions of it sucked. Unfortunately the demo doesnt come with a foot pedal so if you master the drums demo, there is still more to learn in the full game when you have the foot pedal. But the drums are kick ass. I really enjoyed playing songs with my coworker. The demo had no mic, so thankfully no one was singing.

My two complaints though of this game are:
- The drums are very responsive, but you hear the banging on the accessory more than you hear the actual drum noises on the screen. Instead of hearing a kickass drum solo, you just hear a bunch of clanging on the drum accessory from the user.
- From the demo videos Ive seen of singing, you have to sing over the original voice. The original singer's voice is still playing, you need to sing over it. I wish you can just sing it yourself without the original cut.

I just wanna know how much the DLC will be. If they want the same price as the overpriced GH crap, I think I'll pass on the game. Especially when I can play the songs on the PC for free.

 

Just need to get a decent sound system and turn it up, perhaps to 11?

 

I really am getting worried about the release date in Canada, Futureshop has Dec 19th on their site. Once again...no offical release date yet....*crosses fingers*
