For anyone with the Rock Band game, I HIGHLY recommend this drum pad mod to deaden the sound of the plastic pads:

    http://www.generationgamerz.com/v2/insight/time-for-rock-band-arts-crafts.php

I put this self adhesive foam and felt pads on tonight and it's a night and day difference from before. They're still just as sensitive as before, and rebound the sticks even better, but you can hit that pad as hard as you want and it's not going to wake up the house anymore (plus, you can actually hear the music now).

Cost about $8 in supplies at my local crafts store (Michael's). I bought the circle cutter that they mention in the article too, which was $15, but I can probably take that back now that my 10 minute project is finished. hehe

bite your tongue! don't say that about your Wrangler :) mine just got a workout and a half in 18 inches of VT snow. final tally: 2 cars towed out of snow and like 5 taxi trips up and down our driveway because only 4-wheel cars can make it up the hill.

anyways, i was going to try the Drum mod that XBoxJon recommended, but they didn't have the right foam rubber. i ended up going with 4 cheap Staples mousepads, cut down a little bit and rubber cemented on there. working well for me, starting to show a little bit of wear and tear after like 3 weeks of use.

there is a third option here

these Gum Rubber pads are supposed to deaden the sound AND provide a little more bounce to the pads which helps with drum rolls and overall drumming action. when the mousepads start to really break down, i might give these a try

I need to try one of these drum mods. It's not so much the noise that I'm concerned about, moreso the vibration transmitted through the floor which would disturb the neighbors below my apartment. My guitar's strum bar finally went out anyway, so I'm waiting for the RMA box. Sucks too, cause I had just downloaded the All-American Rejects tracks and they were a lot of fun.

Wow, the foam + felt self adhesive pads make a HUGE difference.

I used black felt and cut the foam and felt circles slightly smaller than the drum pads to expose the colored rings. Gives it a nice professional look that way.

I had seen the Staples Mouse Pad mod soon after the game came out and was going to try it. I might try Jon's method instead.

Although, I haven't played the game in about a month so maybe I should wait and see if I get into it again
