Now all they have to do is sign him. Today the twins made a final offer 5 years 100 million, Santana wants 7 for 140 million . Anyway I beleive that the Twins used the Yankees and Boston and never reallly wanted to deal Santana to a American League team (unless of course either team offered a boat load of players). As a Yankee fan I am really glad they didnt offer any of the young talent that they currently have (Joba/Hughes/Kennedy). I know Santana is amazing but 4 or 5 players for 1 is hard to do. This sure helps the mets a lot as they really need the starting pitching and they still have a lot ?'s if anyone gets hurt or become unproductive. I am glad this is finally over though, its gone on for almost 3 months.
your Mets? lol anywho... I'm pumped, as a Met fan. They needed a #1 starter... Although I don't like having to pay him the money they're gonna have to, plus I'm worried about his "down" year last year. But Shea is a great pitcher's park. and the Mets gave up practically nothing for him.
Are you from NY? They are "our" Mets. I never met a fan who didnt refer to them or them as their Mets ditto for Yankee fans. I know Redskins feel the same way about their Skins. This should be the last season at Shea. Citi field should be sweet.

As a Yankee fan, it's hard to see Santana go to the mets...But, at least we didn't lose our prospects, AND at least he went to the national league.
I have been a die hard Mets fan ever since i can remember. This is one of the biggest deals in their history. Lets go Mets!
okay...so Im old..not too old..but old enough to actually remember 1986 WS. Gary Carter!!!! this was a huge deal for the mets..Johan, Pedro, Maine..thats a nice 1,2,3. And lets not forget Perez, and Hernandez (if they dont put him in the pen) One man doesn't make a team win........but it sure helps!! LOL
Yes!! I think its great we dont have to face more than once (maybe twice) with interleague play. (also Boston didnt get him, that would have been a back breaker!!)
Update: Reports are saying the Mets and Santana's agent have agreed to the length of the extension(6 more yrs) but they are $20 mill apart on the total value of the contract. It should definitely be done before 5pm tomorrow.
