I like it how Moore plays it like "The deal we had with the NFL it was instigated by the NFL, it wasn't EA going after them," he said. "The NFL tendered for the exclusive license and EA bid on the license. This isn't how EA operates" BS Mr. Moore, BS. http://kotaku.com/355257/ea-extends-nfl-license-into-futurama+esque-2013
Good, I'm actually glad. I actually like the way Madden is going. 09 is looking to be a solid year if they fix a few minor things from 08. I'm one of the few EA fans.
I am not sure what you are calling BS on , it is widely known that the NFL put the exclusive license out there and everyone had an equal shot at it. There were no back door shenanigans with EA banging the door down.... Peter Moore is a known liar and this fact can be proven by his numerous quotes about backwards compatibility on the XBOX and how reliable the XBOX 360 is. He has put his foot in his mouth on numerous occasions and he will continue to in the future. He has zero credibility in my eyes and I don't buy anything this guy says. What I am calling BS on is how he said "This is not how EA operates" EA has more than one exclusive license (FIFA, NFL etc) and a failed attempt at the NHL license. I like the quote from the 2005 Gamespot article "There also seems to be this perception out there that somehow with all these deals that we can kick back and we don't have to innovate or there's no pressure. If anything, I think there's more pressure." Whether EA is at fault or not, this deal sucks for football gaming fans. Saying one company that can provide you with a service is the only way to go is a strange way of looking at this to me. Imagine if you could only buy groceries from one chain, or gas from one station, or a car from one dealer. Do you think you would be getting the best bang for your dollar?
It isn't like 2K didn't have a chance. Had they had a better NFL product and sold it for more than 19.99 than they would have had enough dough to put in a bid for the exclusive license. Fact is the NFL dangled the exclusive rights and EA was the only company that had the cash. This was going to happen, why blame EA for taking an offer that was on the table?
Hmm...that sounds familiar....SOCIALISM!!!! Alright, let's not go that far, but like it or not, I've heard a lot of people talk about how EA is foaming at the mouth to monopolize as many sports franchises as they can. I personally don't have too much of a problem with the EA franchises (I mean I'm going to buy madden again next year, and after playing it for a while, I don't think it's all that bad). But really, in the end, it comes down to what you believe. If you think people are entitled to choice, then obviously this is horrible. I wonder how 2k feels right now? I mean, they're still alive working on games, despite the knocking they're taking from EA.
Bravo, Bravo!! Yes Monopoly is bad for us the consumer. Historically quality goes down and prices go up. Not right away, but eventually. An athlete excels because of competition, and so does the market. An athlete will always perform better with competition. The other good side for the consumer is price. Competition forces the manufacture to lower prices. 2k was trying to get more of the market by lowering the price. There should be outrage out how much they are charging and with the profit margins in the video games industry. But because it is looked upon like alcohol and tabacco it really doesn’t get much notice. You bunch of addicts.
