Anyone else following the Euro Cup? The 2 teams i always go for is England (Have English blood in me) and The Netherlands (good and long story there). I put a TV on my desk so i can watch the games while im "working" Anyone catch Ned vs Ita today? Best match of the series so far and Italy looked like the "Toronto FC" lol
I'm so happy when any team beats Italy..lol (bunch of diving Prima Donnas). As you can tell from my avy, Germany all the way baby! My family is German....my mother was born there and everyone else older than her was as well (she was the last).
The Russia/Sweden game should be a good one with so much on the line. Russia needs to win and Sweden needs to Draw (or win). It's a tough one to pick too since both teams seem to be fairly even. I think Sweden has to play for the win though so they don't get caught flat-footed.
Spain and Netherlands look like the 2 most promising to me so far. I'm very surprised with France's poor turnout but all I care about is Germany vs Portugal in rd.2. Germany is my team because that is where my roots are as well. Also I play soccer on a team of mainly Portuguese guys so it would be especially sweet for me to see the Germans knock them out of the tourney. As for Sweden Russia, it should be a good game, so far Russia looks like the better team but I doubt either team will put up much of a fight against the Netherlands.
Absolutely insane game going on right now. Croatia/Turkey 0-0 end of regulation. 0-0 end of first extra time Last minute of 2nd extra time each team scores to force it into Penalty Kicks.
That was the worst game of the euro cup and the best game of the world cup so far. Boy that come back was heroic. Looking like an easy gateway to the finals for Germany though
Makes the road to the final that much easier for Germany. I can't wait for the Italy-Spain game tomorrow.
Wow This is great stuff, especially for soccer fans. First the Turks score two goals in about five or so minutes to beat the Czechs in what amounted to an elimination game in the group stage. Then we get the 3-2 German victory and the Turk PK victory after a goal scored in literally the last second of regulation. And tonight we saw the Dutch tie it up with five minutes to play only to lose in OT to some great offensive play by the Russians (and lousy defensive play by the Hollanders). Great stuff this year.
Russia was so damn arrogant yesterday, did anyone see them play the Netherlands? Doing the "shush" motion to the opposing fans when they scored in extra time. Good match until the last couple minutes.
I didn't think that was that annoying. That guy definitely deserved to score a goal with the way he was playing and the Dutch can be somewhat annoying. It was the put-away 3-1 goal to end the game anyway. Then again, it is the Russians. For some reason I don't like the Dutch, but I don't know...I might have to root for Germany.
My issue was Russia did it more than once. It just seemed cheap and unnecessary. Act like you've been there before ya know? Russia was supposed to win that match anyways. I'm not sure who I would pull for the rest of the way.
So many people do that celebration, players were doing it in the group stages way before Russia did it.
