Nice. A friend of mine has one of those, waited on a list for 6 months to get it too. I guess she thinks the 45 mpg balances out that $500 a month car payment.
Prius costs 23,000, even if she put no money down her car payment would be 370, to finance this car for 60mos. And the car in that video is the 1st model that came out which doesnt come close to the newer one.
Thats what she told me her payment was. And you didn't consider that she took a shorter term for her loan, plus interest.
prius' are still junk and they cost more to work on...the technicians that work on them have to buy special electrical resistent gloves and tools. They (the techs) also risk being shocked to death if they aren't extremely cautious while working on them. the labor rate doesn't increase for the customer, the techs usually double the labor on a basic repair. and if your battery dies...that's a couple thousand dollar expense.
I have a 06 Prius. Sold my Chevy Trailblazer to buy it. Of course I also drive 70+ miles roundtrip to work everyday. Haven't had any problems out of it yet. Doesn't get anywhere close to 60MPG they say but still gets a very good avg of 45 on all interstate. It's about $200 more a month then my Trailblazer but with the cost of gas and the miles I drive, I think it's pretty much a push.
You are probably saving 70 bucks a month...as for the Junk comment, no idea where that is comming from. Just because the techs need special gloves and tools doesnt make this car trash. Whats trash is the american auto industry, still pushing for SUVs, V8's and everything else that guzzles gas. But i am excited about the Chevy Volt that should be comming out in 2010.
Looks nice but next thing I buy will be a Hydrogen car or some other alternative fuel. I know they got the Flex fuel and E85 now but I just don't see that being the fuel of the future.
I cant see hydrogen being the fuel of the future for cars. The cost is just too great to convert every Gas station to a Hydrogen fueling station. Electric cars will end up being the norm. I just wish i had 120gs to buy this one right now..lol 220 miles per charge. 0-60 in 3.9 sec. Car is sick Tesla motors.
Yeah but how do you charge it? There is no way our goverment will allow us to use our home energy to charge a car, especially if it goes 220 miles per charge. So I'm guessing there will be charging stations, just like gas stations now? I think that energy would cost more then hydrogen.
well u really don't save in the price of ethanol cause then the cost of corn goes up, and we're just payin it there, especially now cause all the corn lost in the floods corn is at record prices
I don't think the problem is with the cost of the energy. I think the problem is that oil is not a renewable energy source and it is not mainly controlled by the U.S. Finding an energy source that is renewable, something that is developed in North America, although it might be more expensive, is the way go. At the current rate, within the next twenty years, the price of everyday items, like food and pretty much anything you buy, will skyrocket.
You are 100% correct Kidd. Eventually you will see a combinaton of Wind, Solar, nuclear and Coal being used to supplement our energy needs( Good time to invest in a few companies).I dont think its going to be 20yrs, ide say 3-6 yrs. This country and the world actually is in for a very RUDE awakening.
I'd be surprised if we ever use Wind & Solar. Those are free resources. If our government can't make money off of it, we won't be using it.
Wind Farms and solar are being used right now. It might not be mainstream yet but it will be very soon. Also the wind and the sun might be free, but harnessing the energy from them is not and there are a few companies out there that are leaders in this.
yeah they are but i dont know how effective they are. A few weeks ago I went to PA and we took the quads up to them (they are huge!!! ) and they have to be 200 feet apart so its not realistic for an area that doesn't have a lot of space. However there have been a lot of talk about putting them on the water down here ( but I am sure that is just mainly talk) Anyway its very interesting chatter what the future may have in store for us.
