...They're making another Guitar Hero Game for the middle of this year (For those at home keeping score, that's 2 more new guitar hero games in the next 3 months) This one is titled "Guitar Hero: Greatest Hits" and is scheduled for June. http://www.joystiq.com/2009/03/04/guitar-hero-greatest-hits-details-sound-familiar/
saw that. why they won't just release this as DLC for GHWT makes no sense to me. i can't imagine my skihouse or the NYC Rock Band night swapping discs all night long just to play a particular song. RB2 FTW!! BTW - would LOVE to see alot of those songs in RB2.
We both know why it wasn't a DLC pack, they can sell it for more as a "set". Nothing better then buying the same thing twice
WAIT! There's more!! F**K Activision and GH. Besides the whole DLC vs new game debate, I think it's bulls**t that they are going out and locking up these bands to exclusive deals and keeping them off RB. Even the dead horses are starting to complain.
lol lets try to put this together March - Guitar Hero Metelica June - Guitar Hero Greatest Hits August - Guitar Hero - Hard Rock Van Halen September - Guitar Hero 5 October - DJ Hero November - Band Hero Ridiculous. I'm personally boycotting all these games
i will rent the Metallica and VH games. i'm too much of a fan to not play these songs. i do however, want to boycott ALL Activision games (not just GH). F them and I can't wait for the public to get wise and stop buying all this crap.
hopefully this is taking it to the point that more people will notice how much bull**** the GH franchise pulls. I just hope it isnt successful because if it is, whats to stop harmonix from thinking "hey its working for them, why cant we do it like they are"?
Rock Band has already started doing this with their "Track Packs". in fact, "Classic Rock Track Pack" was just recently mentioned over at IGN. the difference is that these track packs are coming out AFTER the DLC, and they aren't wasting time and energy with mo-cap and new character/venue graphics. watching some of the Metallica videos, i noticed they've made a bunch of changes to the interface. there are now individual "rock meters" and more obvious multipliers. so apparently they have at least addressed some of the GHWT complaints, which is good. RB1 > RB2 did the same thing. but the whole thing with not being able to use the songs in one game in the others is a load of crap. especially GH: Greatest Hits - they don't have to mo-cap anyone in particular, so why not just release these songs as DLC?
One thing i want to see is if they support an "song export "feature like how Rock Band did with AC/DC. If you can't and have to keep switching disc's if you wanted to play a certain song, then i've lost all hope in this franchise and proves its about profit and nothing more
the sad thing is....for every ten people that bitch/boycott the games, 100,000 will buy them. They could still rake in the profits offering it as DLC, but that will never happen. When I saw they just kept making you pay a few dollars per song, I stopped playing all games of this nature. I think they even charge too much for expansion packs, so after paying like 10 USD for an small/limited expansion pack for Fallout 3, I will stop buying expansion packs as well.
Your definitely right about that. Take the "wii" for example, most of us have one but i bet none of us have played with it for awhile and don't really care for it and probably recommend a xbox or ps3 to friends who ask, yet they are still sellings like hot cakes. The "casual" gamer is definitely the focus for gamer developers now
Van Halen confirmed for "Guitar Hero" http://news.yahoo.com/s/nm/20090508/en_nm/us_guitarhero_3 :roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll::roll:
