LGHL Season 31: Mid-Season Rankings (Western Conference) 2018-11-09

A look at each team midway through the season.

  1. APsychicTaco
    PACIFIC DIVISION

    [IMG] Anaheim Ducks
    37GP 26-7-4 56PTS

    Pre-season Prediction: 1st
    Current Position: 1st

This is a surprise to nobody. The team looked stacked coming out of bidding and it shows with the roster remaining almost identical as the week 1 lineup. They've piled on the goals so far with a league leading 115 in only 37 games. Girgs is already at 29 goals and as some teams get weaker towards the end of the year you could easily see our first 70 goal scorer since Stif in SEASON 22. They've cemented themselves as a cup contender when the playoffs get underway. QUACK

    [IMG] Arizona Coyotes
    37GP 25-9-3 53PTS
    Pre-season Prediction: 4th
    Current Position: 2nd

The Coyotes have been on a tear to start the season. Similar numbers across the board to their rival Ducks in both goals for and against show that they have the same quality depth. Where Anaheim has Jakoo, Odie and Girgs Arizona has Sitful, Goon and Slim. They've made a few moves as well that have both improved the goaltending and forward lineups with the hope of coming out on top in a hectic Pacific division.

    [IMG] Calgary Flames
    36GP 13-15-8 34PTS

    Pre-season Prediction: 8th
    Current Position: 8th

The Flames are really feeling the heat of this tough Pacific division. Having 8 overtime losses already is a tough pill to swallow while they try to keep up with the wild card race. With lots of player turnover which included a brief Optic stint you see Calgary trying to find some formula that clicks. With a last 10 of 5-4-1 you still could see them turn things around but it needs to start soon or they'll be left in the dust.

    [IMG] Edmonton Oilers
    36GP 19-14-3 41PTS

    Pre-season Prediction: 7th
    Current Position: 6th

Edmonton has been showing signs of life lately with a 8-2 run in their last 10 games bringing them right up to the 9th spot in the conference and aiming to take over the 2nd wild card spot. While they've had scoring struggles like Calgary they've been keeping many more pucks out of the net. Although their scoring has been limited it is spread across all their lines with no forward in the single digit point totals. This will be a team to keep an eye in the net few weeks to see if they keep up their current form.

    [IMG] Los Angeles Kings
    36GP 21-12-3 45PTS
    Pre-season Prediction: 3rd
    Current Position: 4th

    In honor of Melrose:

The Kings have been carried so far by the Shockz/Los/Dangs line for nearly half of their wins, pointing to a rather top heavy lineup so far. Slampson has also been off to a great 13-4 start which has certainly help secure the wins for the top lines. Having made a few switches to the depth lines they'll be expecting Rowski, Jaw Ache, and others to help round out this team. If this does happen you'll see the Kings solidify themselves as a playoff team and sleeper pick to win the whole thing.

    [IMG] San Jose Sharks
    37GP 19-12-6 44PTS

    Pre-season Prediction: 2nd
    Current Position: 5th

San Jose is up there for one of the most disappointing starts for this season. Epitomized by Villian's 0-4-2 start, the Sharks could not score a goal to save their lives. But they've held firm and stuck with their current lineup and it's turning around. This week they brought their goals for above their goals against for the season and went from 7th to 5th in the division with the aim of getting back into the division race. It will be dependent on the like of Lou continuing to produce points unlike his current production of LG articles.

    [IMG] Vancouver Canucks
    36GP 16-16-4 36PTS

    Pre-season Prediction: 6th
    Current Position: 7th

Things have been up and down for Vancouver and it has hit rock bottom with the ban of MLGesus who was a big contributor to their goal totals. Their trades haven't panned out all that well and now they're looking at a division which is getting stronger over time and the Nucks are once again in need of more offensive firepower. On a positive note Vape and BoB have been absolutely stellar so far, they'll need to continue if Vancouver wants to have any hopes of turning things around.

    [IMG] Vegas Golden Knights
    37GP 22-10-5 49PTS

    Pre-season Prediction: 5th
    Current Position: 3rd

One of the few bright spots of NHL19 are the East/West difference being much less of a problem and it shows with a mostly west Vegas team being 12-5-1 on the ROAD. Surprisingly it's better than their current home record, but you can expect that to improve. They've made some big moves in picking up Johnwayne and Nybo with the hopes of locking a top 3 spot in the division.

    CENTRAL DIVISION

    [IMG] Chicago Blackhawks
    36GP 17-15-4 38PTS
    Pre-season Prediction: 2nd
    Current Position: 3rd

Chicago has been bailed out by a rather STACKED Central division. Their scoring has been absent so far this season and the reason why they've hung on to a playoff spot is due to fantastic team defense and goaltending. Totaling only 73 goals against they can hang their hat on the fact that they'll be in almost every game and it will only take a small improvement in scoring to really put this team on the right track. Looking at Viper's stat line is a one line description for the first half of the Blackhawk season.

    [IMG] Colorado Avalanche
    36G 22-12-2 46PTS
    Pre-season Prediction: 1st
    Current Position: 1st

Colorado has been both at the bottom and now the top of the Central division this season, quite the roller coaster ride to start the season. They made a big move today in trading the Double/Fog duo for some Washington players who have been underperforming. If this pans out Colorado has solidified their spot atop the division after purging the likes of HTH. Side note, Huddy is 10-2-2, God help us all.

    [IMG] Dallas Stars
    36GP 21-14-1 43PTS
    Pre-season Prediction: 4th
    Current Position: 2nd

First a foremost, Stifmeister is back. He's right behind Girgs for the league leader in goals at 26. Not to mention he's also shooting 40% on the season. The Stars offense has been on fire expect for a certain few players which have brought the team down to the 2nd spot in the division this week. There definitely is a concern about their defense which you'd expect to be better with the names on board. If they turn things around Dallas will almost certainly secure the division, but only time will tell.

    [IMG] Minnesota Wild
    36GP 14-19-3 31PTS
    Pre-season Prediction: 6th
    Current Position: 5th

The Minnesota Wild cannot score goals. The Minnesota Wild cannot stop conceding goals. The only bright spot has been IcexCreamxTruck with 14 points and a 7-5 record on defense I suppose. It's been an overall disappointment and the only reason they're even at this point is that the goalies are standing on their head after a peppering on a nightly basis. They have 10 MILLION in cap, and it's either time to use it or accept that the playoffs are going to be out of reach.

    [IMG] Nashville Predators
    36GP 13-20-3 29PTS
    Pre-season Prediction: 3rd
    Current Position: 6th

Nashville holds the current distinction of having the most 1 goal difference regulation losses with 13, a 1 goal game record of 8-13-3 which is absolutely brutal. Things have just went wrong, even with an effort to make changes to improve. It's a similar story to Minnesota but they've just been let down even more in close games. With a similar story of loads of cap space they could either make a big move or try to secure some future players for the next go around.

    [IMG] St. Louis Blues
    36GP 13-22-1 27PTS
    Pre-season Prediction: 5th
    Current Position: 7th

Many said the Blues would either be a huge success or massive failure due to the names on the team. I disagreed and was outright wrong. This team is currently in a nuclear meltdown. Everything is going wrong, and it's reached a low point with a 1-9-0 Last 10 record. Things will either need to change immediately or Saint Louis will be one of the first eliminated from the playoff picture.

    [IMG] Winnipeg Jets
    37GP 15-19-3 33PTS
    Pre-season Prediction: 7th
    Current Position: 4th

Get well soon JETS. It's almost as if the EA Gods saw this thread made by Go Bar South and decided to give them a roster-wide case of Ligma. OF/Spence/Anth have all been providing goal support but Winnipeg now has a conference worst 103 goals against and it's only getting worse. The defense is horrid, and it feels like the goalies are giving up after holding on for a few weeks.
