League News 27 Days Until Next Season - What Do You Need To Know?

We are 27 days away from puck drop for our Winter Season, and I want to pass on all the changes and information to you, the players, so that you know what is going on for Season 44/22!

NHL Tier

We are committed to staying at 16/16 per console for NHL 23.

• Right now, we are in need of 4-6 competitive applicants for Xbox, and about 2-4 competitive applicants for PSN.
• The applicant's depth is not strong enough to support a 32/32 NHL on both tiers at this time. Over the past 6/8 seasons, we have continued to see a lack of desire to manage at the NHL tier which has led us to decide that the 16/16 spilt was necessary to ensure the highest tier remains as competitive as possible.

• Player Poll Results:
• Incredibly poor voter turnout for the NHL. This is an indication that the community isn't overly interested in giving feedback on changes and the future direction. There were only 60 votes in total. That isn't even the entire management group from both consoles combined.
• Based on the voting there will be some changes to the schedule, and format for the season.

Bidding:

• We are committed to continuing to find ways to speed up the bidding process to ensure we can get back to action as soon as possible. The offseason continues to be shrunk as we test boundaries of how quickly we can turn over season to season without creating so much chaos that finding quality managers becomes impossible.
• One idea that was tossed around in the surveys was running bidding very similar to how the HUT Auction house works. Basically, every player would have a 14-hour timer that would start when the bidding starts. When a bid is placed, the timer WOULD NOT reset, it would continue to count down. Any bids placed with 60 or fewer minutes left WOULD reset the timer to 60 minutes. We would try to complete the bidding session in 23/24 hours. This idea did appear to be popular. More to follow on if this can be a reality in the future.

NHL Scheduling:

• The next season will be 7 weeks and a total of 82 games.
  • Weeks 1-2-3-4-5-6 will be the normal 4-4-4 rotation (12 games total)
  • Week 7 will be a 3-3-4 rotation (10 games)
  • In weeks 1 through 6, players will be required to give a MIN of 7/12 avail.
  • In the final week or the week with ten games, MIN avail will be 5/9.
  • All games nights will be FOUR DIFFERENT OPPONENTS
  • All game times will be in 30-minute increments. [9-930-10-1030]
  • There don't appear to be any holidays that may interrupt the seasonal schedule, but there might be time changes to adjust to the Esports schedule for a variety of events that will be ongoing. During the playoffs, there might be some flex in the finals due to Easter.
  • No changes to the IR rules
  • No changes to the strike rules
  • No changes to game days; Sunday-Monday-Tuesday will remain the standard.

• Week 1- Jan 29-31
• Week 2 - Feb 5-7
• Week 3 - Feb 13-15* NO Sunday due to Super Bowl
• Week 4 - Feb 19-21
• Week 5 - Feb 26-28 * Trade deadline - Waiver deadline [Feb 26th]
• Week 6 - March 5-7
• Week 7 - March 12-14
• Round 1 - March 19-21
• Round 2 - March 26-28
• Round 3 - April 2-4
• Finals - April 9-11* Might be some adjustments due to Easter.

Resigns:

• 4 total re-signs, a maximum of three extra seasons on the original contract. Rates would be 1.1, 1.2, 1.3 [10%-20%-30% increases]
• The rate will increase as a player is seasoned multiple times. For example, the first time a player resigns it will be 10%.
• Incentives: 3rd season returning to Ownership = one extra re-sign, 4th season returning to Ownership = one free re-sign rate (if 5th is used).

Draft:

• The draft is on hold until further notice. All prospect players who completed 15+ games in the CHL this season will be granted amateur status giving them access to NHL bidding.

Staff Requirements:

• Currently, @ShortyxLOSE is our NHL Commissioner. The NHL Director role on Xbox remains vacant, and our PSN Director @Pawdiddy will not be returning. Paw's role will be filled internally.

AHL Tier

• The AHL for the duration of NHL 23 will remain at 32 Xbox teams and 32 PSN teams.
• Currently, the application process for GM is 99% completed. Offers have been sent out. Current we have TWO open spots on PSN!
• The vetting process for AGM and PAGM has begun.

• We had a better turnout for the AHL voting. 420 players took part in the surveys leading the following results:
  • The season will be a 7-week-82-game format.
  • Weeks 1-2-3-4-5-6 will be the normal 4-4-4 rotation (12 games total)

CHL Tier

• Coming into this season the goal is to expand the CHL on Xbox to 60 teams and the CHL on PSN to 42 teams.
• The NCAA will be setup as 20% of the total CHL is our initial plans.
• The expectation of the CHL Owner to support the NCAA is currently TBD based on how the formatting goes and signup numbers. As of right now, the expectation WILL be for the Owner to support where staff requires in regards to the NCAA. If you are a returning Owner or are new looking to take over a team and are NOT interested in supporting the NCAA, please reach out to Buck and I immediately.
• Current signup numbers are EXTREMELY low, therefore the future of the CHL is going to be completely dependent on the amount of players that signup to play! IF we have to cut teams, the returning Owners will be given priority on returning over the new hires that are coming in. What I would recommend is start recruiting and scouting IMMEDIATELY!
• Owner tests have gone out. Please have the tests back ASAP!
• I think there has been a solution that will ensure that randomly assigned veterans WILL NOT be assigned to the CHL TC or the NCAA moving forward! More to come on this

The voting to ban Truculence and Unstoppable force is so divided in the opinion of the LGHL community. I am not sure where I stand yet. I am waiting to hear more from our competitive players on how the game plays with these bans in place.

As of right now those two factors would be linked IF there is a ban, but I do not see a ban for next season
