AHL Season 18 Magic Numbers & Elimination Numbers​

I was looking around the site for some Magic #'s for teams to automatically clinch playoffs. I couldn't find any, so I let it go... I just kept personal tabs on it & doing the math in my head... also to see possible Round 1 Playoffs match-ups. Then, my GM @iTransitions reminded me about a GoogleDoc that we had back in the "Old League" that we were keeping tabs on & updating with @Safety Sieve that we brought out to the public back in the day.

So, after being suggested that I should bring it back, I decided that it might benefit the LG Community if I did bring that GoogleDoc back. For those who do not know what Magic & Elimination numbers are, it's the number (of points needed) for the Top 8 seeded teams to automatically clinch the S18 AHL Playoffs. As for the Elimination number... it's the amount of points that the teams in the bottom 7 seeds CANNOT afford to lose if they want to avoid Elimination.

How do I calculate those numbers?

Magic Number formula: #9th Place Points (with Missing Games) + Possible Points Remaining + 1 (due to OT point's possibility) - Team Points (Of Team looking for M#) = Magic Number to clinch Playoffs.

Elimination Number formula: Total Of "Points (Of Team in the 7 bottom seeded) + Points (Of Games missing) + Remaining Points Available (Depending on Games Remaining)" - Points of 8th Seeded Team = Elimination Number.

The GoogleDocs will be updated nightly by @iTransitions & I, and will be done as fast as possible. As long as Management does their jobs, then we should be able to do ours as well. If by any chance, any of you sees any mistakes on the GoogleDoc (which there shouldn't be), please feel free to PM me on the website & I shall see where the mistake is & fix it.

Almost fully updated. Just missing the ALB/SPR game from last night... and the SAN/RCK game from July 3rd.

Just thought i'd bump this thread back up to the top

 

Bumping to the Top... ALL Games are now fully updated. PM me on the website if there's mistakes & changes that needs to be made.

 

I know this is just the playoff bracket if they started today but shouldn't the bracket be 1v8 and 4v5 in the top half and 2v7 and 3v6 in the bottom on each side. Sorry for nit picking haha

 

I dont think it matters as teams are re-seeded after every round. From the times I can recall in recent memory as a 1 seed we ended up playing the next lowest team in the next round, both times I'm thinking of it was a 7 seed in round 2 so, the bracket may also be correct.

 

I'm just amazed that you have made it the end of the season, Stith. Usually, you have quit by this point.

Rochester first to clinch

 

I did a miscalculation... sadly you need 1 more point to clinch... UNLESS, OKC lost to BRP tonight at 10:30... If BRP won, then yes... Rochester is the 1st Team in the AHL to clinch the Season 18 AHL Playoffs.

The GoogleDoc is updated with ALL the info we have, there's still a couple of Games were waiting on. Once we get those, we'll be able to complete the updating of it.

Yeah, going to edit it now... I blame that on Management who puts in pictures... but don't edit scores & fixes mistakes. Cause we copy the Stats from what we see here, then just fill in the blanks with the games missing. But i'm starting a new system starting tomorrow, when i'm gonna keep track of the 30 Games each night, and fill them ALL in myself 1 by 1... that way I'll know it's right.

Well, that shit is wrong anyways as there is no "Wild Card" spots in the AHL lol... but yeah, I fixed the mistake. A game wasn't entered properly, which was why I had them at 100.

 

In literally every thread, your first post comes off as douchy. You really need to work on that.
