S35: AHL Award Predictions: So basically I wanted to try something new with my first crack at doing a little media. Not something you see often and I thought it could be fun. No one take offence or anything like that, GOODLUCK TO ALL THIS SEASON! Automatic Awards Calder Cup: Rochester Americans Jack A. Butterfield Trophy Awarded to the most valuable player for his team in the playoffs. Winner: @Saucing Pucks This dudes already got 2 Calders, knows what it takes to win. Hes a very good Two way center, I expect Saucin to be the main piece in a calder run with Rochester, he always shows up in playoffs so hes my playoff MVP. Richard F. Canning Trophy (Eastern Conference Champs) Rochester Americans Robert W. Clarke Trophy (Western Conference Champs) Milwaukee Admirals Macgregor Kilpatrick Trophy (Presidents Trophy) Milwaukee Admirals Emile Francis Trophy (Eastern Atlantic Champions) Charlotte Checkers F.G. "Teddy" Oke Trophy (Eastern North Champions) Syracuse Crunch Sam Pollock Trophy (Western Central Champions) Milwaukee Admirals Emile Francis Trophy (Western Pacific Champions) Colorado Eagles John B. Sollenberger Trophy Awarded to the player who leads the league in total points at the end of the regular season. Winner: @Drxma The line of Backs Drxma Chowder with french on the blue line will be an insane line this season. I cant see anyone beating out Drxma for most points, he has too many weapons with great chemistry, I think this is a done deal. Willie Marshall Award Awarded to the top goal scorer in the regular season. Winner: @l1l Sharp l0l I dont know much about Sharp, but hes on a very good Syracuse team that seems to feed him in preseason. 10goals through 4games, I know its only preseason but I see him Putting up high goal totals. Harry "Hap" Holmes Memorial Award Awarded to the goalkeeper(s) having played a minimum of 25 games for the team with the fewest goals scored against it in the regular season. Winner: @GRG allstarbear Very good goalie on the most defensive trap heavy team in the league. It only makes sense to assume he’ll let up the least amount of goals in 25+ games. Nominated Awards Numbers in parentheses are the amount of points gathered in voting for that player. Each voter gave out a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place vote worth 5, 3, and 1 points towards the final point totals. The community vote awarded a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place vote based on order of the vote leaders. Les Cunningham Award Awarded to the league's most valuable player. Winner: @Drxma Drxma has been an absolute beast ever since coming into LG. Hes easily the best fwd on one of the best teams, and getting his boy Backs will only help him and French on the top line kill teams. I predicted him to get the most points in all of the ahl so it only makes sense to put him as the MVP. Expect big things from Drxma. Eddie Shore Award Awarded to the AHL's best defenseman. Winner: @Leniig Clutch (Leniig) is playing his first season at LD and I play with em all the time, kids a stud. He’s easily one of the best if not the best defensive minded fwds ive ever played with and transitioning to D will be easy for em. He clamps. Pick may seem rather biased but hes a beast on the blue line. I expect em to put up 20+ wins and close to 50points. Aldedge "Baz" Bastien Memorial Award Awarded to the league's top goaltender. Winner: @Tastypeanut 5 He won playoff MVP last season with the eagles on their Calder run, put up some amazing numbers all season too, this guys a beast and I can only assume he has another great season and takes home the baz. Pavel Datsyuk Award Awarded to the forward who best excels in the defensive aspects of the game Winner: @Schreiny Schreiny is one of the most underrated players in the AHL if not the most underrated. Ive got to play against him a few times in my last season with stockton, and hes a very good two way. I expect him to carry Cleveland to a playoff birth and to lead all fwds in takeaways. Fred T. Hunt Memorial Trophy Awarded to the player who exhibited outstanding sportsmanship and gentlemanly conduct combined with a high standard of playing ability. Winner: @l Freddy ll Pretty self explanatory. Freddy is by far the nicest guy youll meet on LG and hes an absolute beast on LD (9.75 for a reason) this is a no brainer. The Dudley "Red" Garrett Memorial Award Given each year to the player in the American Hockey League determined to be the most outstanding rookie. It was named after Dudley "Red" Garrett, who played in the AHL before fighting and dying in World War II. Winner: @A R N O x 19 Dont know a whole lot about Arno but he tore up the C last season, got drafted by one of the best teams in the A and I think hes in a great position to succeed in his first season with Rochester, especially if they put him with saucing and nylander. Louis A.R. Pieri Memorial Award Awarded to the most outstanding management team during the regular season. Winner: Utica Comets Brisan and his crew have got to be one the best management teams if not the best in the league. Brisan builds contender after contender each season, its only a matter of time until they make a trade to put them over the edge. Thank you for reading, if you liked it let me know. Id like to continue doing media, seems like the AHL has been dry over the last few seasons, hit me with ideas and if there’s anything I can do better next time please let me know. -Reids
Damn I even get snubbed nice guy on Predictions. Jokes aside good media Reid. Good to see something a little differnt.
Media is good a thing whether you agree with his opinion or not... and let’s just say there will be a lot more disagreements then anything
Great writeup read, I was flowing along and almost spit out my tea laughing when i saw you choose Clutchy for D of the year (big lol) but man everything else seemed pretty on point, aside from Roch winning a Calder, lets see how accurate these things are good sir
I love ya Reid, but me winning the Eddie, that is kinda laughable. Good write up tho brother. Love to see it. #TheKidsBack
