This write up is an idea taken from NHL.com. I decided to bring it to the AHL on a weekly basis. The Super 16 is a "Power Rankings". To create the power rankings, there is a group of 10 GM's & AGM's who compile their version of what they think the Super 16 should look like. A point total is assigned to each spot of the Super 16. The #1 team gets assigned 16 points, #2 team gets 15, #3 team gets 14, and so on all the way down to the #16 team getting 1 point. Every point gets added up from all of the rankings and then a final list is made.

    The people who will help put this together each week are: @JC Enterprise @Sportfreak114 @SmiTTy x 12 @DONNYWOOD @l SaIty I @Leniig @Casey26lax FR @TeachMe18 @MxrteI @IM IA IF 29

With all of that being said, here are your Super 16 for Week 1...

    1. :team625: Colorado Eagles (7-2-0)

    Total Points: 152

Hit: The Eagles end Week 1 boasting the most goals for (45) and best goal differential (+24). @Smitterr leads the team with 13 points after finishing last season with the 6th most on this same Eagles team.

Miss: The two losses this week were the Eagles lowest scoring games for the team. Both losses also came to formidable divisional opponents. Maybe something to look at in the future regarding the strength of the division? Or maybe not.

    2. :team390: Milwaukee Admirals (7-1-1)

    Total Points: 147

Hit: Milwaukee was solid not only offensively but mostly defensively in Week 1. The Admirals only allowed 18 goals against and are the only team with both goalies ranked inside the Top 20 for GAA & SV%.

Miss: A 1-1-1 week for @Neil x 25 and his line while everyone else went 3-0-0. A couple hard opponents, but when you're one of the highest paid dmen in bidding (6.75m), sometimes you have to carry.

    3. :team362: Iowa Wild (8-1-0)

    Total Points: 129

Hit: Team ranks inside the Top 10 of Win%, PP%, PK%, Average TOA, Shot Differential, Hits, & Goal Differential. I'd say it was a good first week for the Wild.

Miss: Backup goalie play was terrible despite winning 2 out of the 3 games played. This looks to be fixed though via a couple of trades. Time will tell if it works out or if more needs to be done.

    4. :team352: Providence Bruins (8-0-1)

    Total Points: 122

Hit: The only team without a regulation loss in Week 1. @Karlsson 659923 has been lights out between the pipes. He owns a 4-0-0 record with a 93.8 Sv% & 0.71 GAA.

Miss: @Nifty only playing 1 game is a big red flag after Week 1. The highest paid player on the team by more than 3.0m needs to show up and play. Especially after posting 4 points in his only game played.

    5. :team393: Charlotte Checkers (6-3-0)

    Total Points: 106

Hit: The defending Eastern Conference champions finished the week with 3 straight wins. @iTsKingJayDee played in all of those games and finished as the only 3-0-0 guy on the team. He also leads the team in points with 11.

Miss: Another team with some suspect backup goalie issues after Week 1. But yet again a trade and a call up could be the fix to that.

    6. :team317: Cleveland Monsters (6-2-1)

    Total Points: 102

Hit: King of the North...sorta. Tied with the Marlies for the division lead after Week 1, the Monsters are a top 3 team in the faceoff dot.

Miss: @l GET BUSY l is 8.0m at center. He is 1-2-0 with 2 points. That has to be fixed quick because that's a big chunk of cap not producing.

    7. :team298: Toronto Marlies (5-1-3)

    Total Points: 99

Hit: The top point scorers on the Marlies, @Go for a celly & @BARSOUTH HOCKEY , combined for 22 points, but finished 1-0-2 on the week (play on same line). Keep playing the same and the bounces could go their way and end up with a 3-0-0 week soon enough.

Miss: The powerplay is tied for 27th in the league. Capitalizing on powerplay opportunities is a key way of securing wins in LG. Starting 3 for 17 is not ideal.

    8. :team301: Wilkes Barre Scranton Penguins (5-2-2)

    Total Points: 72

Hit: Least penalized team in Week 1 coupled with the best PK%. The line of @MxrteI @lTEEI @Dubois x 9 had a perfect week together and combined for 28 points.

Miss: The powerplay needs work as they went 2 for 18 and they face off against a few teams in the upper half of the league in Week 2.

    9. :team309: Syracuse Crunch (6-3-0)

    Total Points: 70

Hit: The leagues best PP% with a crazy 56.3% (9/16). @D0NI 54 leads the team with 13 points while @l1l Sharp l0l has 12. Two different lines with guys who can put up points. Don't write off @Sitful either.

Miss: The Crunch are getting out TOA'd this season. It hasn't really done any damage to them yet, but you never know as they season goes on.

    10. :team303: Binghamton Devils (6-3-0)

    Total Points: 61

Hit: Very balanced in Week 1 in regards to every players record and points. A very good penalty kill team who shut down 11 of 13 powerplays.

Miss: Top point scorer @XenoSZN is tied for 57th in the league. I think as the season goes on this team is going to need a few guys to step up and start scoring more.

    11. :team618: Tucson Roadrunners (5-2-2)

    Total Points: 53

Hit: A very nice shutout win by Tucson over Colorado in Week 1. @GRG allstarbear had a respectable 3-1-0 week where he ranked inside the top 10 in both GAA & SV%.

Miss: A lackluster penalty kill coming in the bottom 4 of the league. Big money @l Freddy ll needs to step his game up on the blue line after a 1-1-1 week.

    12. :team300: Texas Stars (5-2-2)

    Total Points: 51

Hit: @Darcy Kuemper making his AHL return showed why he is one of the highest paid goalies in the league. Without him this past week, I honstly believe this team is in the bottom 3 of the division.

Miss: The Stars are hanging around the middle of the pack in most stat categories of the league. A lot of verterans on this team need to step up.

    13. :team312: Rochester Americans (3-3-3)

    Total Points: 46

Hit: A very talented group of players who probably had one of the harder schedules in Week 1. I'm not worried about this team and am sure they will bounce back quickly.

Miss: Needs more secondary scoring. One line did all of the scoring last week.

    14. [IMG] Palm Springs Firebirds (5-3-1)

    Total Points: 30

Hit: Not a bad Week 1 for the Firebirds as they rank in the top 10 for PP% & PK%. Like Tucson, Palm Springs had a quality win over Colorado.

Miss: One of the most penalized teams in the league for the week. While they are one of the better PK teams in the league, it's best to just not stay out of the box.

    15. :team518: San Diego Gulls (5-2-2)

    Total Points: 28

Hit: Well hello @Patmo x 16 and welcome to the AHL. Yes it wasn't against big time competition, but 20 points in a week is something good to mention.

Miss: @PHJ314 didn't have a stellar week between the pipes and was shipped out. I think that was a mistake though.

    16. :team349: Rockford IceHogs (5-3-1)

    Total Points: 27

Hit: A top 10 powerplay and a tight win it overtime over Tucson is about all I got for this one.

Miss: Holy hell the PIM's. Leading the league with 51 minutes in penalties after Week 1. That most likely is the reason why the PK% is bottom 10. After a while the penalties will come back to bite you.

    Other teams receiving points: :team410: Utica (22), :team307: Manitoba (18), :team519: San Jose (9), :team299: Grand Rapids (8), :team395: Chicago (4), :team350: Hershey (3), :team617: Springfield (1)
