AHL World Juniors Interest Thread

Just trying to gauge interest in an AHL World Juniors tournament. We could do it like CanAm and have Canada vs US based on where you live or have more teams. I am personally in favor of Canada vs US. If you are interested please post your nationality, position, GT, and availability as well as other ideas. Please only post if you are serious about playing.

I'm totally for this, but I think we should get more teams involved like Poland, and go off everyone's ethnic background, i.e. I'm polish, so I would be on team poland. It gives a lot more people chances to play, cause I know a lot of people would love to play who deserve too and don't make it.

Not to de-rail the thread, but here is an idea that (at least I feel) is a better option.

Instead of Canada vs. USA, make it a 4 team "All Star" type tournament. The idea of Canada vs. USA seems like a cheap knockoff of CanAm, and last year in NHL 13, there was an allstar tournament like I'm suggesting that I participated in, and it worked well, so I feel that it'd be better for the AHL. Here's just a few ideas of how it could go:

Maybe put up a thread for Team Owner signups; of the people that volunteer, pick the 4 best skilled players that would unqestionably make it, but are also competent enough to pick/manage a team. You could either put it to a public vote maybe, and the top four candidates get their own team. Then, the four owners get to pick one GM to help them; again, they'd preferably pick someone of high skill who'd unquestionably make the cut, but in the end it'd be up to the owners, not the public.

Once the 4 owners/gms are in place, put everyone who signs up into a giant pool and hold a snake draft on a google doc, or even here on the site if Tris feels like it. Ideally, each team will pick 3 or 4 full lines and/or some reserves (this can be determined later, if this takes off). This way, with 4 teams instead of 2, the teams are less about politics, and you aren't required to be boys with one or two people in order to make the team like it is in CanAm.

Once the teams are in place, you can have a bunch of regular season games in order to determine the seeding for the playoffs, obviously during which the 1st seed would play the 4th in a series, and the 2nd play the 3rd in a series. As you might predict, the winners would play eachother in the finals, and the two losing teams could play a consolation series.

This is just my two cents, but I feel that it'd work infinitely better than some sort of two-team CanAm-like tournament would. As I said, I played in an NHL one in NHL13 and it was super fun and competitive.
