There seems to be some confusion among new players as to what team they are on and how to sign up for games. I wanted to try to help clarify a few things and give you some advice on how to get the opportunity to play if you’re not currently a roster player. So, let’s begin.

How do you know you’re on a roster? If you were bid on or drafted you would have gotten an alert indicating which team you were acquired by. You can also find out this info by clicking on your profile page and checking out your news feed. Another way to see if you’re on a roster is to click on the LGAHL PSN, or LGCHL PSN tabs at the top of the League Gaming website. From there, click the roster tab. This will bring up the rosters for each team in that league. Roster players are the first ones listed. There should be 9 forwards, 6 defencemen, and 2 goalies. Below that is the TC list which you might find yourself on.

Now, here’s where there’s been some confusion. Some of you may have already noticed that in your news feed, it says that your rights have been acquired from an AHL team and a CHL team. The reason for this is that there are only 16 CHL teams and 30 NHL and AHL teams. For this season, CHL players have been randomly assigned to AHL affiliates along with new sign ups and players not bid on. What this means is that since you were a late signup or undrafted/not bid on, you are on the TC roster for BOTH a CHL and AHL team. This gives you the opportunity to sign up as an ECU for BOTH CHL and AHL leagues. If you want to get your name out there and get a chance to play and show your skills, you need to make sure you contact the owners and GM’s of the teams you’re affiliated with. You also need to sign up for any games you’re available for. This will allow managers to know they have players ready and waiting if one of their roster players cannot play that night. The more you make yourself available, the better your chances are of playing games. Sometimes people quit or aren’t working out with a team. These will be your chances to step up and fill in those empty roster spots.

I will now walk you through how to sign up for these games as an ECU. When you click on the AHL or CHL PSN tabs, you should see a team locker tab just below the chat box at the bottom right hand corner of the screen (the instructions are based on using a computer not a smartphone). It will show you your team logo.

Click on the Team Locker tab and it will direct you to the locker room.

Here is where you will find the team chat and locker room threads that your managers will use to communicate with you. Now, to sign up for games, simply click the sign up for games tab and you will be directed to the sign up page.

Click on the position you wish to play on for whichever days you know you can be available for. You will see your name appear in yellow which means you’re signed up. This indicates to the managers you are available should the current confirmed player not be available. You will know you are confirmed for a game when your name turns green. You will also be given an alert to let you know that you have been confirmed to play.

It is VERY important that you check the LG site regularly to see if there have been any changes to the lineups for that day. If you sign up and find that you have been given the opportunity to ECU a game but forget you signed up and don’t show, your manager will remember and likely find you unreliable. So make sure to show up if you are given the opportunity to play.

The best way to get a chance to play is to be active on the site and make your presence known. Say hello to your teammates in the team chat or post a thread stating your availability. Offer to play some practice drop ins with team mates to get to know them and build some chemistry. Talk to your owners and managers and let them know your availability.

And finally, I will include the link to how to take stats with twitter. ALL players MUST learn how to take stat pictures. If you want your wins and stats to count, you MUST take the proper stat pics. Your managers will likely be the one inputting the stats, but each player should know how to take them. Your managers are required to assign some of you to take stat pics when they aren’t playing. I recommend that you take them regardless of being assigned or not, that way there are multiple people taking stats that will help to avoid any issues with disconnects and what not. Here is the link:

I hope you will find this helpful and if you have any further questions, don’t be afraid to ask your managers or teammates. Make sure you familiarize yourself with the website as much as you can and be sure to read the rules as well. And most important.......HAVE FUN!
