Since EASHL was released in NHL 09, we have had so many different metas in the nhl community. I remember starting in 09 even tho I wasn't in LG and remembering how awesome it felt to play an OTP mode with your own player. Which one was the goat?

Can someone leave a quick recap of each game for those of us who haven't played EASHL since way back? I only started in NHL 18 lol

 

NHL 09 was the most fun by far not even close.

People actually cared about club

Gameplay nitpicking and overcorrecting wasn't a thing yet because everyone was just excited about this new form of NHL.

NHL 13/14 are the GOATS

 

NHL '13-15 on Xbox 360 was the golden era and I can't be convinced otherwise.

 

PS3/Xbox 360 NHL's were awesome. For me, NHL 14 is still EA's best NHL title they've released to date. Hopefully with the power of the new consoles coming out, EA can make an NHL game that can rival the old gen games.

 

I miss GM Connected and the rooms with forums chat to find players to play a game. There should be back Arenas wagger matchs for money with ranks like Gamersaloon.

This sums it up. In NHL 18 they brought back whatever they called new features that they removed in NHL 16-17 and every year before that you can follow the same pattern for their releases. Will lobbies and GM connected return as new features in 21? You bet.

 

and when you got ejected for getting a 5min major you legit got ejected from the game haha

what made nhl 14 so good? i didnt really play eshl till nhl 17..but nhl 14 has vast majority of the votes.

 

the overall feel of the game was at its peak. The skating was smooth, the pokechecks were perfect, shooting was weaker and more realistic depending on your players stats. The skill stick was the best ever, hitting felt like you really hit someone.. Furthermore, it had GM connected (play an online franchise mode with other people). To have the best possible player in EASHL you actually had to be good and grind. The system for unlocks and skill point went through a card system where you worked from rookie to legend 3, if you werent good and didnt play you werent gonna hit leg 3. Also, hut was the best because you had to start off with a shit team and microtransactions weren't mainstream yet so it felt fun to legitimately earn your way up through the ranks. Last buy not least the music was fire haha.

 

you could also set up a practice with whatever club youre in, this feature today would be very useful for lg teams..

Complete custom player builds and the Legend 3 Card on NHL 12. Only the old fellas remember

 

Controversial opinion: NHL 14 is severely overrated, (not a bad game) but if you actually go back and play it you'll realize that there is lot of jank to it, You think Franchise mode's sim speed is bad play NHL 14's gm mode and you will be thankful for that speed. The skating was pretty jank at times, i like the more fluid movement of current-gen, the Dekeing, the fricking dekeing every time you made a deke you would slow down so much and poke checking was so broken and easy to just spam. Ea has done such a poor job this generation that yeah alot of Old-Gen is Better then current-Gen Hockey, Remember EASHL practices?? Remember live the life, GM Connected?? Still waiting for that in current Gen EA. And it's not like in NHL 14 these modes were executed that well, EASHL Practice mode had a time limit for no reason, Live the life had little substance to it, GM Connected was extremely slow. Maybe by 2026 will have a game that will leave us at least satisfied, who am i kidding EA will pull an EA in next gen hockey (NHL 21 or NHL 22) will be a rehash of NHL 15, No EASHL, Just HUT and play now.
