    To be honest there is 1 thing have done for that league after ownership was to help young new owners. I gave a "CHL GUY " sd the mentor an opportunity to succeed and obviously I won't take the whole credit of that becaude you are part of the reason I did it. I also gave another "AHL GUY" gretzler an opportunity to succeed because yes I may not be all that great but I was very good at putting the right pieces together. Both of those guys wouldn't reallt get that much of a look at from most people and I am happy that I did. I never discredited your ownership skills so please don't discredit mine.

    A lot of sassiness in this thread. I like it. You're both good at building teams and bad at the buttons. I'm right there with you guys.

    @Yargage

    While some of the positioning, both offensively and defensively, in the offensive zone is a little off in some cases, the general premise of what you're trying to teach is on the right track. Clearly you have a better understanding of real hockey than the average video gamer.

    I like what you did with the animated, numbered playbook.

    Keep up the good work!

    Edit Addition: I have several years of coaching experience at both the AA & AAA levels. I have taken multiple Hockey Canada coaching seminars and have had the privilege of working with former NHL'ers Bill Berg and Jim Bedard, amongst other very knowledgeable, experienced players who are close friends of mine. So if you ever plan on making more playbooks and want someone to review and critique your work, I'd be happy to do it and offer any suggestions I may have.

    Cheers

    Ya the basic principles of this offensive system is a 2 by 1 rush providing depth of attack and always having a foreside and backside option. F2s main job is to explode into the zone to be there for the cross corner or ring. If there is a drop pass then it turns into a rush scoring play.

    When zone possession is established the puck is to be cycled from behind the net to the sideboards. 1 Forward is always in front of the net and at the farside trapezoid line below the goalie. Having a forward infront of the net at all times makes the defense defend netfront opening up the boards for the puck carrier. the other forward at the farside trapezoid can receive the puck their and reverse the cycle to the other side of the ice and also move 3 feet and get to the backdoor of the crease very fast. If he was directly behind the net he couldn't get out front very easily.

    If the defense covers net front, the farside sidewall to D clapper, and cuts off the forward below the goaline, that will leave the playside D man open at the boards and the blueline. When he receives the pass he explodes to the top middle of the zone and that triggers a transition into the umbrella.

    Obviously this is something that people have to work on for a while to use correctly, but if the right reads are made by the puck carrier, this system generates scoring chances.

    Cool post. The only thing that stinks is there are dozens of strategies involving different ways to support your teammates. Due to this, I think everyone goes in with their knowledge of hockey that might not fit the strategies of the other players. So drafting a team that all plays similar (instead of all of the players being good) is key.

    But the good news is when good owners/gm's take initiative and make their players use a specific strategy and everyone sticks to it, you get wins.

    A good example of what you just said is certain clubs come in the zone 3 wide and have the puckcarrier stop up at the boards and the blue line to try to isolate the playside defenseman, sending a vertical pass down to the center to create a mini 2 on 1.

    If you have the center trailing the puckcarrier and the winger stops up it creates a big mess. both systems work and both players might be good, but dissimilar playstyles can lead to a bad product on the ice

    Right. I've been on plenty of those teams in this and other leagues. Management credited with a near-perfect draft, but just can't win because the players aren't fits to the puzzle.
