    curious about format

i was wondering if you were planning on playing tournaments every week or 2, like the tour?

or are you going to make it like the sports leagues with a schedule and standings?

    Hi Goalie,

We are planning on running a real-style Tennis like just as the ATP would. This includes all majors and as well as a "Leaguegaming" Seeding ranking.

Our tennis commish (babolat) was a professional tennis player, so we are letting him have free control to give us a great league.

bah... i refuse to speak to a canadian about hockey! [-(

yeah, i love the sport of hockey (w/out the obligatory fighting of course), but i just can't get into playing it on a computer or on a console.

xbox live has really changed my perception of sport games though... i would have never got into motogp2 as much w/out the communty like xblracing.

so, i won't say never about hockey.

Well, about the format, it will consists of the 4 Grand Slams, with a total of 32 people (32 person draw). We will have a first inagural tourney to see which person gets what seed to start off with. This first tourney, of course will consist of random draw, and we will go from there. The first season will only be the 5 tournaments, and after we fix all the problems we might have and fine tune it, season 2 will consist of the 4 Grand Slams, and the 9 Tennis Master Series events.

On a side note, make sure you officially sign up. After 32 people, you are not playing only for exibition.

a season... what do you have in mind in terms of actual calendar length? 1 year to go thru the 13 tournaments?

are you thinking that the 32 people who signed up are in and new people won't be allowed in unless an opening happens? or will only top ranked people be allowed to play?

i would imagine a tournament would last 1 week, or maybe 2 weeks.

32 means 5 matches to get to a winner. (but only 1 match for 16 players... half the participants!)

Well thats what makes this sport unique. If you don't win, you dont play.

Tourneys will last no more than one week.

im not familiar w/ "real" tennis games. so does it mean that only 32 players will have the chance to compete in one league or season composed of 4 grand slams?

i meant, will we be having an accelerated schedule of some sort? or will we be following the actual schedule as the tennis tour... that is, we'll have our version of the US Open at the same time as the real US Open.

No no, just like the football and hockey season, we are having an accelerated season. It will follow the tourney schedule of the pros, not the dates. One week we will have the Australian Open, the next week French, and so on and so forth. If we followed the actual dates, we would have a year long season, which is way too long. Season one will consist of the 4 grand slams, and a pre-tourney for seeding purposes. Then after we get seeds, and a ranking system going, we will start the actual shortened season. Once we do finish that, we will start season 2 which will include all 13 tourneys, which will last about 3 months.

I Killed at Virtua Tennis:laugh: From what I have seen it won't play exactly the same but similar, which is ok for me.

    Also after reading through all this, the idea of the 4 Grand Slams and 9 Regular Tournaments's = =P~ =P~ =P~ =P~ =P~ :!:

I just hope everyone stays interested enough for us to have full tourneys every week:D

Im sure we will. We already have an awesome number of people signed up, and the game is still over one month away. So we should have a great turn out. At least 32 person draws. We are shooting for 64, but that might be hard to manage.

a lot of people have mentioned that they've loved virtua tennis. i find it interesting that the xbox has sort of become the spiritual successor to the dreamcast.

i've never played virtua tennis so i have no idea how well i'll do... but i will DOMINATE this game!!! 8)
