First of all, let me start by saying that I am pleasantly surprised at the level of parity throughout the AHL. It's nice to see so many competitive groups in the mix. With the 555 bidding adieu, it has opened the door for a new squad to take the throne.

Sitting atop the standings are the :team519: San Jose Barracuda.
Lead by @jdj71, alongside @SQUADCAV16, and @Spacelessbark. These angry fish have ripped apart non-playoff teams, picking up 23 of 26 possible points. They also have yet to lose in regulation on the road. One could have gripes with the 7 OTL's, which is tied for the most in the AHL. To that I say, "The Ends Justify The Means". @MayerTopKat100 and @Insinuate l13l boast a hearty 9-0-1 record with 23 and 18 points respectively. However, the real standout here is in the blue paint. @TripAcez at 11-1-3 with an 88.4% SV and 1.65 GAA. @AG Tomza is also showing out with 85.6% SV and a sub 2 GAA. Only thing that may be a cause for concern is the amount of giveaways from the back end. 4 or 5 less mistakes a game and perhaps 4 or 5 of those OTLs swing their way.

The leaders of the Eastern Atlantic, the :team393: Charlotte Checkers.
@Wickedly Moist and his moistly moist crew sure know how to stuff that turkey. Ample timing with that day of thanks coming up. 95 goals as a team, sitting at #2 in the AHL. They also supply the league with 3 of the top 9 point getters. Moist has posted 29, with @PigsOnJupiter and @Martel x 29 tallying 28. They also have 3 defense men averaging at least 1 point/game while the entire core has a positive +/-. The most impressive statistic that they have to show is that 51.2% (10-2-1) of their total PTS in the standings come against playoff teams, which is the highest % of these five teams. Moist turned S30's abysmal Belleville Senators into a highly competitive team, proving that he has the stuff. Only time will tell if the consistency will hold.

With the most wins in the Eastern Conference, we have the :team777: Belleville Senators.
At 6-4-0 in their last 10, they are the team in this Top Five that are "struggling" the most as of late. Wouldn't quite call it that because if you take away the last 3 games, they had only lost two games in a row once. They absolutely dominate the battle for TOA. Solid team defense lead them to a differential of 52:20, far more than any other of these teams. @BARSOUTH HOCKEY has 0 PIMs, and leads the team with 29 points while shooting 38.6%. Talk about efficiency. Only thing not showing is his ability to bang bodies...only 2 hits. Actually, the whole damn team don't bang, coming in at 29th in hits.

    :team315: Bridgeport Sound Tigers.
I know people get all bent out of shape when people talk about their own teams in posts like this. There's just a few things I would like to say. It's my third go around with these pussies. We needed to add some dog to our fight so we brought in the Newfies, you know who you are. Shoutout to the OG's, @axemurderer29 and @Gthumbz42o. Much love to @Wild Edits for being you. Wild Thing II coming soon. This team fucks and we got the spirit of @Bigmo QC on our side so there's no telling where we can take this thing.

In a fit of irony, the hottest team in the league, the :team516: Stockton Heat.
8-1-1 in their last 10 are this Heat squad. Remnants of my rivals last season are at the helm in @Dunks and @Smitterr. I was a bit worried when I saw Smitterr sign up at D because I think a defensive presence up the middle is a crucial piece to success. It seems to be working out so far. With a scorching 34.1% PP, the Heat have propelled themselves past Colorado and into this Top Five. Being 3rd in the league in shot differential, at +132, alongside a 4th ranked TOAD shows that these guys have the ability to suffocate opponents. @Dr Dee is proving to be a valuable asset as he comes with a lot of NHL experience. Recent addition @CSilveri is off to a 3-0-0 start with this bunch since being acquired from Laval. This 10 game stretch could be a sign of things to come.

This was my first write-up, hope it was a good read. Good Luck the rest of the way to everyone for the remainder of S31!

I also have something to say to a team that I care about.

    Dear :team778: Laval Rocket,

    4-20-3

I will take a page from the book of @Garis93. "Don't Stop" by Fleetwood Mac would be your power ranking song. For some reason, your play so far has looked like Steamy Nicks. Not Stevie Nicks, the one who wrote "Landslide", but Steamy Nicks. Just out there shittin ur britches. Ya ya ya. Lord, I ain't ever seen a pair of britches take a whoopin like that. Listen to the song, look at what's around you and realize that y'all can make it out. @i need too P00 will do whatever it takes to get you there.

    With Love,
    Jude

The turnaround that @jdj71 and his team has made this season is really impressive. In S30 they were a team plastered with problems (including me haha), and now they are not only a good team, they are dominating. My hat’s off to the GM/AGM of the Barracudas.

Echoing what @Coreymac27 said above, this is a great article and the AHL needs more like it. This rivals some of the media NHL folks are producing.

10/10, well written @Jude le Polski I look forward to reading the next one! Hopefully Hartford can make it!
