I just wanted to throw the idea of making a double elimination tournament or a losers bracket. I think it would kinda be neat and give people the chance to play a few more games. The winner of the losers bracket could play the winner of the main tournament for the finals and have to beat the player from the winner twice to get the cup. Or just make the losers totally seperate.
I was thinking that same thing, but we are not set up for that. That will probably be in season 2...maybe. Remember, season 1's are always test seasons, and with each passing season, they get better and better. So this might be in season 2.
it would be tough to get all those players to play those games...i dunno ppl would lose interest if they knew they were in a losers bracket...
I like the idea, it just might be tough to implement and tough to program. For sure it won't happen for Season 1 though.
Good idea Reign Man, clearly our greatest concern is that after the first round, half the field will be elminated. So we've reconized this as some what of an issue. I did leave some space in the scoreboard to just make mini-tournmanets going on at the same time, so i could use that as the "losers" tournament, it's just no stats would be recorded, it would just be for fun i guess you could say
I like that idea as well, but the best you should be able to get is 3rd place. That's how any losers bracket works that I have ever seen.
I was thinking something along the lines of the college world series. I figured it wouldn't be possible now, but I just wanted to get a feel of what everyone thought.
If you win the losers bracket, no way you would even come close to third place. The way we do those in real tourneys is that you have at least 3 rounds (if enough people) and they get a small fraction of the points. Its a "better-than-nothing" system. And thats all it would ever be. But the good thing is, its helps the really good players that got a bad draw by playing someone else that was really good in the first round as well. In theory, that player could have gone to the finals if they were on opposite ends of the draw, but once again, thats a big "IF".
suggestion: say 16 players compete in a league. top 8 goes to quarterfinals while the other 8, who lost the 1st round, can still battle each other for the "positioning" of 16-9th position. how does it sound?
In a losers bracket that would determine 3rd place, as the tournament progresses and people lose they keep getting added into the loser bracket, so if you get to the semi finals and lose you would go to the losers bracket Semi finals and if you won that you would advance to play for 3rd. It's a complicated system, but that's the type of system I was talking about.
How about if someone wins the losers bracket, then he/she would have to beat the tourney winner 20 straight times to get the cup?
I was thinking something like this: The following is EVERYTHING the winner of the losers bracket must do to get the cup: Beat The Champ 20 times in row. In those 20 Matches he must serve 100 aces Also He must win each match 6-1 6-2 because we don't want the original champ to look like a total chump. Sleep with Anna Kournikova Beat the Champ in a womens match, wearing the least amount of clothes as possible while maintaining the 6-1-6-2 win and the 5 ace per match avg. You also MUST have at least 50 Unforced errors, we want you to overcome obstacle's if you are to steal the trophy. You must wear a Hot pink shirt while playing, not just in the game but in real life, Tris10 and Babolat are currently installing camera's in everyone's homes to make sure all is on the up an up. You must lose your own serve 20 times You have to use a different racket in each of the 20 matches You must NOT wearing socks that match your shoes Also you have to fault on ALL first serve's and commit at least 20 Double faults. ....(sighs) Other than that....let's have some fun out there guys
As a matter of fact if we do that I'll lose on purpose just to have the chance of getting Anna in the sack.
