Last week of the regular season. Lot of uncertainty still for who might sneak into the playoffs. These are my bold predictions. A bold prediction has to be daring and brave which carries hope but not 100% certainty by any means. Nothing 100%. My 5 BOLD Predictions 1) Boston Bruins make playoffs. I think the Bruins have the advantage with their schedule to sneak into the playoffs. They have a lot of experienced Vets who will come up huge this week and get them in. I also really like the recent play from drally20 in net. 2) NYR95 catches up to SBass19 to win the Art Ross award. Probably my boldest prediction of them all. Bass leads George 98 to 89 in points but Bass already played two of his games this week. George has not played yet this week and has two games in hand to make up the 9 points. Bass had a cupcake game against the Oilers to create the nice lead but no lead is safe in this game. We have seen George put up 9 points in a game before. 3) Zwigggy wins the Calder. Zwigggy has been a pleasant surprise on Chicago this season. For the $750k contract, he is in contention for an award with few standouts. A 3-0 final week should win him the award. He composure with the puck has developed with each and every game this season. 4) T1 Clamps wins the Norris. I know, I know, Odie! Odie is having another Odie-like season. But the value that Clamps brings to his lineup is unique. You can argue that he must be the best player on the ice for them to win each and every game. He is quietly putting together a dominant season in a very competitive conference. The numbers are there to back it up. 5) Vancouver Canucks make playoffs. Yes, the Kings have the lead and a play-in game but the Canucks are the hot of team of late. Challenging schedule to finish the season but they finish the season in what I think will be a play-in game vs. the Kings. Battle to the finish.
1. I think the Bruins will make the playoffs. Judging by the strength of schedule between the Penguins and the Bruins, the Bruins have the easier road to a playoff spot (Tampa having the easiest road I have them as a lock to make it). 100 pts should be the benchmark to grab the last playoff spot in the east. 2. No I dont think @NYR95 will catch bass for most points. George has the Rangers tonight which should be a layup for at least 4 points for him. However, @Sbass19 plays in the pacific and isnt fighting for a playoff spot which means that he has at least 1 more game against probably the team of his choice which should lead to another night of big points for him. 3. No I dont think @Zwigggy will win the Calder. Just taking a quick look at the Calder race I think its a tight race between @l Semp l (18-4-2) and @Basful (20-2-3). Both play in the East where the competition is tougher and have been able to maintain not only a good record, but good +/- as well @l Semp l +44 and @Basful +22. As for picking a winner, I think that @l Semp l should take home the prize as this is his first where @Basful basically played an entire season in S27 but still somehow is on the Calder list. 4. A very tight race for the Norris this season between @Odieeeeee & @T1 Clamps . This one is basically a toss up. Both should finish the season with 25 wins and 2 losses. @Odieeeeee leads by 8 points and is +54 (10 better than @T1 Clamps ) with 2 games in hand. Clamps playing out of the east has had the tougher schedule as well as having played 11 teams currently in a playoff position to @Odieeeeee 's 8 teams in a playoff position. This is basically a coin flip. To pick one side, I think that @T1 Clamps will get the nod for the Norris this season. For the simple fact that I dont think the awards team will give @Odieeeeee the award 2 seasons in a row, especially with competition as close as this one. Both players have had outstanding seasons and both are more than deserving of this award. 5. Yes I do think that the Canucks will clinch a playoff spot. I think that the wheels have fallen off for the kings. Laine pretty much says it all here when referring to the Kings. And as it would appear, those Kings can no longer get carried by the game.
