What I’m saying is a lot of good wingers play that way. I don’t think DucksFan is why St Louis sucked at all. If you put him on Colorado in Eastons spot he’d find similar success. 18 was a game of defense & smart centers and wingers mostly positioning themselves and pushing up at the right times.

You should know this. Re-Watch any Colorado blowout win. D plays high, breakout goes well or Eastons or opposing winger gets hail mary - cross ice feed one timer.

Trying to say Ducks, as much as you dislike him. A winger, who produced - was responsible for his team being ass is laughable.

And to be fair all of us on Vegas like @jay6219 - he did a lot of work by himself and got put in shitty situations because of summer season. I think finishing his first ssn of management the same way I finished mine - 1 point out, will teach him a lot about the future.

The real reason we missed playoffs though was terrible availability and a bunch of guys not giving a shit - but its understandable. 18 is pretty boring and its summer.

Also LoL played the first 1/3rd of the season on European servers, so theres that.

Playing 90% of your games at home doesn't make you a good player.

I don't have any illusions on what I am. I'm someone that enjoys tough 6s games that are on equal footing, but I'm not in the top bracket of elite players. I manage just fine in the top bracket of this league while barely playing the game at all. I don't think I have the 1st prestige coin in NHL 18.

But that was an A+ deflection. If you acknowledged what was really goin on, you might get that asterisks like Barry Bonds.

There’s very few people in this new gen NHL who can actually go out and score a good amount of goals, dependent on builds or opponents or whatever.

I get faytal made an article stating you scrub hunt, and it might have rubbed you the wrong way, but in what sense does it verify you can turn around and accuse someone else of doing it?

No, the blues aren’t in the basement because duck scored a lot of goals, scoring goals is the actual point of a regulation game of hockey.

The Sacramento Kings weren’t a basement team because Boogie Cousins dropped 30 a night with 15 rebounds but only got 4 assists, they’re a basement team because they had no support around him.





So yea, the “maybe if he had more assists” is a bit invalid. It’s literally just a different way of obtaining the same goals (that he scored) while on the ice.

 

I posted this before faytals thread and I completely agree with faytals thread if you break down anyone’s SOS it’ll be bad because 80% of the league is considered “below average”. I’m just saying cherry picking and forcing your team to play 5 on 4 in the defensive zone all game made them lose more games than they should have.

 

The man has 19 wins on a team that won 12 games when he didn’t play.

If we’re going off statistics alone you absolutely can’t point to his style of play, but to his supporting cast.

He won almost 2.3x the amount of games as the rest of his team when he physically didn’t play. Saying they could have won more despite his playstyle and “playing no defense” is kinda ludicrous given the supporting cast. They could have won more games if the other players on the roster won more games.



Bottom line is that as “acceptable” and “respectable” a pass first, strong two way game may be to the common person, you can’t harp on someone who plays pure offense if it shows that it works for that player. I’ve seen players like class act do the same role seasons (nothing against Class, he’s a good two way player when that role is needed) albeit against better players (ducks will be the first to tell you class act is on a different level than him) yet there isn’t a negative word said about arguably the best Lw on New Gen PlayStation.

Yet someone plays similar, with similar results, and there’s a negative connotone attached to it, and I’m just curious how that came to be, unless you just have something personal against the guy.
