Coming into Season 26, there has been some major adjustments to how we run games, take stats, as well as the timelines in which players are required to be online and ready to play their LG games.

In hopes to better educate the entire community, this post will be dedicated to the changes made prior to us moving into Season 26!

    Game Night Procedures

Article Two, is our reference guide for EVERYTHING related to setting up official league games!

Here are the MUST know rules and procedures:

    • Official Game times for the NHL are 9 PM, 10 PM or 11 PM, EASTERN STANDARD TIME!
    • Official Game times for the AHL are 9:30 PM and 10:30 PM, EASTERN STANDARD TIME!
    • Official Game time for the CHL are 8:30 PM and 9:30 PM, EASTERN STANDARD TIME!
    • All LGHL - LGAHL - LGCHL games SHALL be played by using EASHL Club Challenge.
    • The Drop-In PIN System CAN be used in situations where EASHL Club Challenge is not function correctly.
    • Each official game is given an additional five minute buffer window from the official game time in order to get their players into the right club, and into the challenge dressing room to start the game.
EXAMPLE: TOR vs PIT, Monday Feb 2nd 9 PM est. Both team have until 9:05 to get into their respective challenge dressing rooms. The home then needs to send the challenge by 9:05 at the latest! This is how a normal game should play out unless either team requires additional time.
    • Additional time is granted to a team in situations whereby one or more of their players is having last minute connection issues to their personal interest, to the EA servers or any unforeseen issues last minute prior to a game starting.
    • Additional time is limited to a maximum of ten additional minutes from the time it is requested!
    • Additional time can be requested, prior to the official game time, after the official game time and up to the additional five minute window.
    • Keep in mind that when a player lags out in ANY situation OR ANY time from the launch of the official game up to the final whistle of a game, a team is given ten minutes to allow for their player to return or replace the original player with an ECU.
EXAMPLE: TOR vs PIT, Monday Feb 2nd 9 PM est. Player A from TOR is having issues connecting to the EA servers at 9:04. At 9:05 TOR sends the notice to PIT that they require the additional time. If TOR does NOT either replace the player having issues, OR the player does not return by 9:15, PIT becomes eligible to take a forfeit win at 9:16.
    • Forfeit can be claim prior to official game time in situations whereby "team A messages team B" stating that they cannot ice 6 skaters.
    • Forfeit can be claimed six minutes AFTER official game time IF additional time has NOT been requested, and the away team has not joined the club challenge(Home Team forfeit granted, stream required to prove)
    • Forfeit can be claimed six minutes AFTER official game time IF additional time has NOT been requested, and the HOME team has YET to send the club challenge to start the game.(Away Team Forfeit, stream required to prove)
    • Forfeit can be claimed sixteen minutes AFTER official game time IF the home team has yet to send the club challenge or the away team has yet to accept the club challenge AFTER additional time has been requested.(both Home and Away Team, stream is required)
    • Forfeit can be claimed in a situation whereby a player lags out and is either NOT replaced within ten minutes OR is has NOT returned in ten minutes. (Home or Away team can claim)
    • In situations whereby a team is winning, and there opponent quits mid game, the score of the game when it ended will stand.
    • IF A GAME ENDS IN A FORFEIT, THE LINE-UP LISTED AT THE TIME THE FORFEIT IS TAKEN OR GRANTED WILL BE LOCKED INTO THAT GAME!! THE PLAYERS INVOLVED CANNOT BE SUBBED OUT TO TAKE PART IN AN ADDITIONAL GAME DURING THAT SAME WEEK! FORFEIT GAMES COUNT AS A GAME PLAYED!
    Disconnection Procedure

I lagged out! What do I do!! This is where our disconnection procedures come into effect! There are SEVERAL situations and scenarios that will be outlined below:

Player / Goalie lags out PRIOR to the opening face-off/game loading up

    • The team whom had the player lag out MUST try and fulling quit out of the game ASAP!
    • Lagouts in those two situations result in a restart, and no penalty taken.
    • Team is given ten minutes to ECU the player, or wait for the player to return.
    • BEST PRACTICE, have your goalie quit ASAP! Using Club Challenge will result in the game to instantly end.
Player lags out AFTER the game has started(past the opening face-off)
    • During the period, when a player lags out, his or her team will finish the period out with a CPU player.
    • Once the period ends, both teams will quit the game.
    • Once the game is restarted, the player whom lagged out will be required to take a two minute, delay of game penalty.
    • Team is given ten minutes to ECU the player or wait for the player to return.
    • Any goals scored by a CPU player COUNT!
    • BEST PRACTICE, TAKE PICTURE OF THE STATS PRIOR TO QUITTING OUT!(Back up to the API)
A Player from BOTH teams lags out after the opening face-off
    • Continue play UNTIL the next whistle. Any goals scored prior to the next whistle count.
    • Both teams quit out.
    • No lagout penalty required to be taken by EITHER team.
    • Teams is given ten minutes to ECU the player or wait for the player to return.
    • BEST PRACTICE, Take pictures of the stats prior to quitting the game(back up to the API)
Two or More Players Lag-out from One Team after the opening face-off
    • Continue play until the next whistle. Any goals scored prior to the whistle count.
    • Both team quit out.
    • The team whom had two players lag out, must take TWO, back to back penalties(5-3) once the game restarts.
    • Teams is given ten minutes to ECU the player or wait for the player to return.
    • BEST PRACTICE, Take pictures of the stats prior to quitting the game(back up to the API)
    Goalie Lag-Outs
    • Using Club Challenge will ensure that when a goalie lags out, the game will end.
    • If the PIN system is in use, continue the game UP to the next whistle, then both teams quit. If a goalie is score, it does count.
    • Once the game restarts, the team whom had the goalie lag out is required to take a lagput penalty.
    • Teams is given ten minutes to ECU the player or wait for the player to return.
    • BEST PRACTICE, Take pictures of the stats prior to quitting the game(back up to the API)
Taking Stats With Our *NEW API*

There is still some manual input as this API doesn't give us everything we have today, Rather then losing these stats we decided to make those stats manual, So manual stat input is this

    • Team Time on Attack
    • Team Power Play Goals & Attempts
    • Goals by Period
Everything else we get from the API.

How it works is simple, the user selects the LG Game, then types in the "EA Sports Club" their LG game was played on, That brings up a list of the last 5 games that EA Sports Club played. The user simply needs to select which EA Sports Game is connected to the LG Game.

    Here is a full demo

There are a few things to consider though

    • We can only get stats from Club Challenge, Not the match making PIN System
    • It takes roughly 30-50 minutes after the game to show up on the API
    • We can only see a teams last 5 games right now, meaning if they play all night in club challenge we might not be able to get stats for that game
Here is a list of the benefits
    • Makes being a manager in LG much easier, less work
    • IF we remove the OCR input, we could move all stat entry away from managers so that only BOG could manage stats and we never have to worry about stats being padded
    • 100% accuracy
    • We could do things like team records, season achieves now, now that players wont accidentally be given 1000 goals for a single game by accident ect.
We will still support the OCR going forward while we test out the API but going forward this should really help our community and grow LG to new levels,

    Official League Stat Requirements

    • Based on the "last five game issue" the winning team SHALL be responsibility to take the OCR screen shots IN CASE THERE IS AN ISSUE GETTING THE API TO WORK! It may NOT work in situations where there is TOO MANY lag-outs, or in situations where the club utilized for official LG games is then utilized for Pro Series, General Use, or banana League Play PRIOR TO inputting stats INTO the system. Pictures WILL be mandatory to back up those situations!
    • The API SHALL be our #1 stat entry system. The OCR WILL remain active for back-up situations.
    • The League staff WILL allow for a short one or two week grace period(not including pre-season) for managers and players to get comfortable utilizing the API system. After the grace period, warnings will NO LONG be issued. Teams will be given a minor penalty for stat issues. After three minor penalties the team's manger will be issued a one game suspension for continued stat issues. Realistically the API will make stats quick, accurate and completely eliminate incorrect stat issues.
    EASHL LG Club Requirements

Using club challenge will allow for some creativity in LG games. There are some situations that LG wants to avoid:

    • Official LG club names DO NOT need to be used(ex: LG Toronto Maple Leafs) but it is recommended.
    • Official team abbreviations ARE required.
    • Custom club names CAN be used, but ONLY team names that are deemed "in good taste"
    • Unique custom rink design is RECOMMENDED, but try and keep the customization to realistic looks so when LG games are streamed they have a professional appearance.
    • Official Team jerseys SHALL be used. Once a club reach the level in which a third jersey can be utilized, the team will be eligible to use a custom third jersey.
Any questions please let me know!
