Goalie Power Rankings (Pre-Season)

In an attempt to show my fellow goalies some love this season, I’m going to be doing a weekly power ranking including ALL 64 rostered goalies in the AHL. You may refer to this ranking to see how your goalies are doing compared to the rest of the league throughout the season.


I decided to only use LG stats from NHL 23 (S43 and S44), which include: SV%, Saves/GP, Wins, GP, TOAD, and Playoff Success. I’ll also be doing my best to watch as many games as I can to see these goalies play and judge them with my own eyes. For that reason, this is not a completely unbiased ranking since I will be using my judgement to make up for anything stats might miss.


I will begin with the Pre-Season Power Rankings. This initial ranking will only include goalies who were rostered at any point in S43 AHL, and played a minimum of 12 games. Only their combined Regular Season + Playoff stats in S43 AHL will be used. NHL and CHL stats will never be considered for these AHL rankings since stats are generally deflated in the N and inflated in the C.


I will also start the season with a separate ranking for our NHL fallers and CHL risers. After the first week all the new AHL goalies will be added into one complete power ranking.
