    Hello LG Community,

    Awards are back!

    Over the next few days the LG Awards committee will be posting forum threads with nominees for a variety of NHL awards for you -- the community -- to vote on.

    This poll will close in 5 days, with the winner receiving an extra vote during the final tabulation (out of 7).

    Let’s find out about your nominees!

    FYI: YOUR VOTE CANNOT BE CHANGED SO CHOOSE WISELY!!!!!

    Criteria:

    The Hart may very well be the most difficult award to judge in a league like ours. Many factors must be considered other than what initially meets the eye. All of the following must be considered when determining those who should be nominated for the Hart, in no particular order:

    1) Production in relation to peers. It goes without saying that players who produce more statistically are generally the most valuable to their teams.

    2) Individual record. In a league where players don't get to play every game in a season, individual record becomes a very important and telling statistic.

    3) Linemates. This is mainly to note that a player should not be significantly punished or rewarded based on their fellow linemates.

    4) Strength of schedule. The main things to examine here are record vs playoff teams as compared to record vs non-playoff teams, as well as statistical production vs playoff teams as compared to vs non-playoff teams.

    5) Team performance. It is extremely rare for a player on a below average (non-playoff) team to win the Hart. It shouldn't be cut and dry that your team has to make the playoffs to be considered, but note that it should take a rather herculean effort from a player on a non-playoff team to win/be considered for the Hart.

    6) Position. It is extremely rare for a non-forward to win the Hart, other positions would need to be over and beyond any of the forwards production.

    Nominees:

    @Diamond l 4 l (C)- Toronto Maple Leafs

    Record: 20-1-3 Points: 98 Goals: 44 Assists: 54 Plus/Minus: +63

    Wins/GP of teams above .500 = 8/11 (Win Rate- Rank 3)

    Average Opponent Record= .527 (Rank 6)

    % of Wins Against Above .500 Teams= .40 (Rank 5)

    PPG vs Teams Above .500= 3.45 (Rank 1)

    Notes: Diamond was arguably the most dominant forward in NHL 19, so it is no surprise that he once again showed up at the top of every major offensive category. Many people feared playing him, and he was a no brainer as a nominee coming from the Presidents Cup winning team.

    @F0G19- (RW)- Montreal Canadiens

    Record: 24-2-2 Points: 88 Goals: 43 Assists: 45 Plus/Minus: +62

    Wins/GP of teams above .500 = 12/14 (Win Rate- Rank 1)

    Average Opponent Record= .533 (Rank 4)

    % of Wins Against Above .500 Teams= .50 (Rank 1)

    PPG vs Teams Above .500= 2.64 (Rank 2)

    Notes: The stats speak for themselves here, and this doesn’t even show you the defensive impact we witnessed while digging through all the extra stats. The connection he had with Lazie and Scy, was undeniable, and it was about as successful as a forward line can be. As the leader of that forward line, I am sure Prom is thinking money well spent.

    @nickyP1999 (C)- Vancouver Canucks

    Record: 23-5-0 Points: 89 Goals: 56 Assists: 33 Plus/Minus: +65

    Wins/GP of teams above .500 = 11/15 (Win Rate- Rank 2)

    Average Opponent Record= .533 (Rank 4)

    % of Wins Against Above .500 Teams= .48 (Rank 3)

    PPG vs Teams Above .500= 2.47 (Rank 3)

    Notes: After being a major contributor on one of the most improbable cup runs in Season 10, NickyP spread his wings and continued to dominate the league while with Vancouver. Before you go saying “ITS BECAUSE HE IS WEST”, his line was not afraid of playing on East, as they played multiple away games during the season.

    @VEXEloQuence (C)- New Jersey Devils

    Record: 21-4-2 Points: 68 Goals: 24 Assists: 44 Plus/Minus: +28

    Wins/GP of teams above .500 = 9/15 (Win Rate- Rank 4)

    Average Opponent Record= .553 (Rank 1)

    % of Wins Against Above .500 Teams= .43 (Rank 4)

    PPG vs Teams Above .500= 2.27 (Rank 5)

    Notes: When most predicted the Devils to be a bottom feeder team in their division due to new management, VEXE had other ideas. His offensive stats won’t stand out like some of the others, but when you account for defensive stats like we did, VEXE was a Top 3 overall forward, and was the definition of a two-way Center.

    @Class Act 27 (LW)- San Jose Sharks

    Record: 20-5-2 Points: 80 Goals: 42 Assists: 38 Plus/Minus: +43

    Wins/GP of teams above .500 = 10/17 (Win Rate- Rank 5)

    Average Opponent Record= .540 (Rank 3)

    % of Wins Against Above .500 Teams= .50 (Rank 1)

    PPG vs Teams Above .500= 2.41 (Rank 4)

    Notes: Shocker. Class had another stellar season on a Wild Card team, while playing the most games against Teams Above .500. Every season his line mates know how to find him, and every season he delivers. Nothing much more needs to be said about one of the known greats.

    @BradyTkachuk (RW)- Colorado Avalanche

    Record: 21-6-1 Points: 71 Goals: 39 Assists: 32 Plus/Minus: +33

    Wins/GP of teams above .500 = 8/14 (Win Rate- Rank 6)

    Average Opponent Record= .550 (Rank 2)

    % of Wins Against Above .500 Teams= .38 (Rank 6)

    PPG vs Teams Above .500= 2.00 (Rank 6)

    Notes: I know this will probably be the nominee that everyone questions… but at the end of the day winning 21 games on a team that the other two lines could only muster up 21 wins combined, and still managing to be as productive as he was, is pretty impressive. Yes, Colorado didn’t even make the playoffs, so can you imagine where they would have ended up if this guy wasn’t on the team. Sheesh

    Give it to Fog or ClassAct, don't give it to anyone that plays on full west line and only play home games while 99% of the time their opponents are on 100 ping.

    1. Production in relation to peers. It goes without saying that players who produce more statistically are generally the most valuable to their teams. - Nav had 82 points while the second highest scorer on the penguins whilead 58 points and an extra game played. This next ones going to look REAL BAD.. nav went 24-1-2 on a team that finished 43-28-11 so that means when nav didn’t play the penguins were 19-27-9! 89% win rate with nav on the ice and 34% without him.

    2.Individual record. In a league where players don't get to play every game in a season, individual record becomes a very important and telling statistic. - Nav went 24-1-2 which is the best record in the league and also beat most of the nominees on this list.

    3. Linemates. - @Hriiz on NHL 19 without nav 25-25-2 with nav 18-1-2. @ItsJodach on NHL 19 without nav 21-31-3 with nav 22-0-2.

    4. Strength of schedule. The main things to examine here are record vs playoff teams as compared to record vs non-playoff teams, as well as statistical production vs playoff teams as compared to vs non-playoff teams. - 16-0-2 vs playoff teams hello? Did you guys miss this players stats or are you too bias to do this properly.

    5. Team performance. - If nav didn’t play a single game all season and the rest of the penguins performed the way they did. Penguins would’ve finished the season with 55 points and that’s good for second last in the league.

    6. Position- Nav had 44 GA in 27 games, which over 82 games averages out to 134. Pens without Nav had 160 GA in 55 games, which over 82 games averages out to 239. Almost half the goals against with Nav playing C. Let’s not forget the other centre on this team is a better player than nav (KC) so how can you possibly snub a season like this?

    Hart - “most valuable player to his team”

    Also for the people saying the difference in team stats is because of west.

    Vancouver without nickyp 31-17-5
    Toronto without diamond 35-19-6
    Pittsburgh without nav 19-27-9

    @xCOACH_19 theres a reason why you’re not in charge of awards. Better luck next time pal.

    Nav you were the 24th best forward with ALL stats taken, congrats on your season. But unfortunately there were other West and East guys with better overall stats.

    And there is a new Awards committee, so yes, I do help run it

    I don’t think you understand what the hart is. Most valuable player to his team. Without me the penguins would’ve finished second last. If you don’t understand what the trophy is for then why are you even doing this?

    So you want others to be removed simply because their 2nd and 3rd lines actually won too... The criteria that the league wants us to use is above. Thank you for your opinion, you did have a great season, best of luck this upcoming season

    The Hart Memorial Trophy, originally known as the Hart Trophy, is awarded annually to the "player judged most valuable to his team" in the National Hockey League.

    If Vancouver/Toronto would’ve made the playoffs without nickyp and diamond can they really be the most valuable players to their teams? 55 points vs 97 points for the penguins is a pretty big difference.

    Bud this is a virtual hockey league, where teams and players can choose who they play, West and East connection is a thing, like this isn’t an award for the irl NHL. Once again the criteria was posted that we were to use

    #1 overall record in the league
    #1 Plus/Minus
    #1 in win % for his team by a landslide
    #1 in GP against playoff teams
    #1 record vs playoff teams
    Top 5 in points
    Top 3 in goals
    Top 3 in GAA as a centre

    24th ranked forward in the league? Yeah okay nice “criteria”. Still mad we kicked you after one game a few days ago?

    Why am I not nominated? I had like 200 hits more than 2nd place! no other player brought that kind of value to his/her team!
