Having played the arcadish SSX titles in the past on my PS2, and the Tony Hawk series, and never previously touched Amped in the past... I am seriously lost in this game. I guess I could figure it out if I crack the manual, but could someone more skilled in Amped1/2 give me some quick pointers? It seems the only thing I'm able to do are spins and the occasional back flips.

Use the tweak button in this game cuz you will get a lot more style pts which matter in this game. You can also use it on the rails. If you dont know the button it it the triggers.

Just go through the tutorial :)

Right stick for grabs. Point stick in any direction except right or left.

    Triggers to tweak grabs.

Triggers to rotate you on rails.

When approaching rails left stick in any direction to do a jib.

On rails left stick up or down to press (major points) whle using left stick to keep balance and triggers to rotate :)

Y button for lip tricks, use left stick like approching rail to do different types of tricks

Left stick up / down tro flip

Left stick right/ left to spin

Do spins / flips in one trick to do off axis tricks.

Style - New feature. As the tutorial says, do not mash the triggers (tweaks) or the left stick. Use finesse and you will see styl epoints accumualte as you are doing the tricks.

Butter, like Tony Hawk manuals - used to link tricks. Ex: Butter before you land, keep your balance using left stick then do next trick.

All of you please put me on your friends list.

I'm in the same boat XBoxJon.

I'd recommend doing the tutorials which helped me figure out what you're "supposed" to do.

I currently suck at this game but I'm getting better the more I play.

Put me on your friends list. BTW; Your right thumb will get no such break with Amped2 as al of the grabs are in the right thumbstick.

Oh, that's fine. I can handle the right thumbstick (which is what I ended up doing with MotoGP, riding it only using the sticks and 2 triggers... no buttons, and haven't looked back). The problem with Top Spin is the pressure sensitivity of the buttons and having to push on them as hard as possible to get those huge returns and crossing shots. At least with Amped I won't have to jam on the 4 buttons so much (I hope).

you wont have to jam on them as much but you will find yourself pissed off when you lose 10,000 points because of a "sketchy landing".

Ya definitely man... go through the tutorials, they really help a lot. Especially when learning combos, tweaks, and the new style feature.

once you start to get the hang of it you can make some insane combos. Indy+ corkscrew 540 onto a bar in which i did 5 different grinds is my best trick so far. It was all in front of a camera to, lets just say that single trick wiped out the camera challenge for the level :D. Although after playing with gg and skater they have been in the 75000 for one trick before =P~

    [psssst] dont tell them that[pssst/]
I really suck, but all you have to do to get rid of the sketchy landing(-50% of your score for that trick) is let go of your trick a little early and it should basically re-orient your guy to the ground and you should be getting sick and stomped landings. which give you +30%
