LG Discord Server

Started this up last night, discord basically does everything skype does (apart from video chat), and its just all around easier to use and doesn't have the glaring security flaws that skype has.

In an effort to get people away from skype I'm making this LG discord server, basically it'll be to have voice chat channels and a text chat for the general community. If any groups (commish, bogs, etc.) want a private chat made we can make that for them as well.

I encourage teams to use discord instead of skype as well, because skype fkn sucks.

Not sure how, but yes if possible. This will make game nights easier and would be nice if we got every team to use this program.

 

You can use it for voice chat. And it is a messenger client, but it's way more organized than Skype. A screenshot is below. You can have separate text & voice channels that people can join.

This would also give that "LG IM" type integration that I know owners talked about last season.

 

Please disclose the royalties or conflicts of interest you have with subjugating us to a move. I know someone's getting paid for this.

 

Wait a minute... is there a limit to how many people can be in a voice chat or could this be used as a alternate form of a psn party and have up to 12 players to run practice and such? That would be outstanding if that could happen! Honestly though i doubt i could get 8 of our players online at the same time so that's just a pipe dream anyway...

 

@Moranaconda I think theres a maximum but its much more than 12.

 

I don't even understand how discord makes money, so I'm not sure how I could.

Seems like the discord chat would be full of assholery, no?

 

I just think after people have used skype for so long it would be hard to get everyone to go over to discord, almost everyone in the league has skype, sure skype is shit, but it serves its purpose of being able to get a hold of people. I think discord might serve a better purpose as far as people wanting to just play different games together, an alternative to the shoutbox i guess.

 

Would never switch to something else, no reason to.
