Well, in some situations you need to try and crank one deep, wheter it be a HR or a deep fly ball to get the guy on 3rd to tag. I know we have signs that tell us to try and hit it hard and deep.

Well no shit, I would rather get a hit all the time too, but sometimes ya gotta take one for the team and do a sac bunt, or a sac fly.

instead of taking one for the team why dont you get selfish and just get a damn base hit... sac bunts arent even the issue here because there is a bunt button (y) on both settings

Lets put this in an example of a game situation, top of the 9th score tied.

You start off with a lead off triple, so now you have 3 outs to get the runner home.

Do you A) try and get a base hit each time or B) just try to hit the ball deep enough to tag up for the go ahead run and bring in your closer to get the save.

I know my option would be just to work on getting that go ahead run to cross the plate for the W rather than trying to bat for AVG singe there is no I in team. ;)

using b you have a less chance of hitting the ball... i would rather go for the bloop single and drive in the run and still have that out to play with... but anywho go ahead and have fun sac flying lol....

I've never heard of anyone "trying" to sac fly... what a joke.

    MP...

You obviously don't play baseball.... there are many many times when you "go for" a sac fly... especially in the instance that Denman laid out.

In fact... Pujols did it last night...

There are times when a long out... is just as good as a hit... and usually a long out is easier to hit than an actual base hit... you have the ENTIRE outfield to hit to.

You may not be for 2-button... but there's no way that your going to convince me that baseball players don't try for sac flys.

Watch carefully this season... look for it... you'll see.

Thats gotta be one of the funniest things I have ever read..."I've never heard of anyone "trying" to sac fly... what a joke". Well, I actually saw it last night when I was watching the St. Louis game on TV. 2-button is obviously more realistic. We shouldnt be arguing about whether or not people sac fly, because obviously in real baseball it happens everyday. Nevertheless, we should limit our arguments to the ESPN game only and which is better. I would have to say I like the 2-button better.

The other thing that I did notice...

Too many home runs on pro.... it's easier, when you get a hit, to hit a home run.

Try playing someone who knows how to pitch..you wont get any HR's.

BTW I do play baseball and know the game whereas your making me wonder. Why would Pujols be thinking sac fly? Why wouldnt he try to go the distance and get a damn HR? It makes no sense to TRY for a sac fly.

Keep arguing... you're digging yourself deeper and deeper...

A sac fly is easier to hit than... a base hit... or a home run... if you accidently hit a home run... then great... but in a sac fly situation the goal is to advance the runner. That's why they call it a SACRIFICE!!! The player is SACRIFICING himself... intentionally... to score a run or advance a runner...

    Think about it...

It's like bunting... do you think that bunting is a good idea? Do you think guys try to bunt... or are they actually going for the base hit... but accidently bloop it down the line for a sure out at first.... Same principle MP... different discipline.

Sacrifice Fly = Sacrifice Bunt Same diff.

im going to nitpick here, because i am forced to do so :)

but, if its the BOTTOM of the 9th as stated above, why on earth would your closer be getting ready for the save? .....again, im just funnin, i know what you meant, and i agree with it, for the record
