Hi guys, It's the first Major of the season, and also the end of the Rural/Autumn part of Season 1. We'll be playing the course made by my fellow LT Commissioner of the XB1 league, PHJ314, and his beautiful creation called "Shawshank Lakes"!! Now, PHJ was kind enough to make 4 different versions, with different tee boxes and pin placements, but after seeing the XB1 league play through, we both agree on the following: - The Thursday version is too easy - The Sunday version is WAY too hard (nothing stays on the green with the firmness set that day) With that said, the Major will be constructed this way: - Round 1 will be the LGC Shawshank Lakes Friday course - Round 2 will be the LGC Shawshank Lakes Saturday course - Round 3 will be the Shawshank Lakes (Original design) - Round 4 will return to the LGC Shawshank Lakes Saturday course Reminder: Majors have more points per player. Each player participating would add 200 points per player to the player pool. The second round will be a change of pace from the very demanding Major, and we'll play Briar Hill for the second course, with 50 Points per player added to the player pool. Week 3 will begin early Sunday before 8 AM Eastern! Best of luck to you all on Majors week! Let's see how you do on a real challenge course! LB
playing PHJ's course for the major is nice, but shouldnt we try to stray away from playing the same courses as the xb1 league? these 2 will make 3 or 4 already that the xb1 league has played. lets get some variety. that also puts the people who play on both league consoles an advantage against players only doing the ps4 league.
There are people who bought this game twice? Crazy humans. xD Anyway, looking forward to this Major. Even though the description makes it sound like I'll find myself way down on the bottom of the leaderboard again. xD
just played it its pretty easy compared to the ones we been playing was 8 under through 12 holes when i quit on the saturday edition prety much the same on the friday copper creek would have been a great major
I practiced the saturday edition and sucked pretty hard. My terrible approach shots are getting in my way again, so I have to make veeery long putts on those relatively difficult greens, and there goes my score. I see a bad score coming for me. Briar Hill felt pretty nice though. ^^
I predict a similar winning score here compared to Ballyntyne. -20 should do it. Tough winds and you have to consider which side of the fairway to aim for to not be blocked by trees on some approach shots. Very clever m!
Phew. Done with Shawshank Lakes. As expected I did pretty bad. There are some holes on this course that I just couldn't figure out right and ruined my score even more.
clicked advance to start playing R2 and its doing R1 again. i swear i better not have to do this ish again man. turning ps4 off and trying later. it better take me to R2... anyone that plays now or is about to play make sure im on the leaderboard at -1 please.
What's so Unrealistic about it? Hit a Left to right shot and leave yourself with 140-160(maybe even less) to the green. You don't even need to hit a driver to achieve this. OR Hit a 3-4 iron off the tee dead straight and you should have 190-210 to the green. It's the Signature hole on the course. The whole premise behind that hole was that is would force you to play AT LEAST ONE SHOT that was out of your comfort zone. Whether that shot was off the Tee, or a long approach. It's not a straight forward hole, it can be played various different ways. It's Risk reward. A lot of these holes were setup to make you THINK before you go whacking away. There are good and bad sides of the fairway to be on.(See #6) There are good and bad sides of the pin to be on. There are various risk reward situations on the course. There are holes where trying to hunt the pin will kill you, sometimes par is the best score(8,9). Not every hole is a scoring opportunity. (One thing I did notice, I've watched 4-5 rounds now, and it appears that firmness plays a little different on the PS side, balls appear to land softer on some of these approaches. I'm really noticing it on the Saturday rounds, count yourselves lucky.)
Yeah I noticed that you have to think about which side of the fairway to aim for as sometimes being in the wrong side week will create tree trouble on the approach shot.
Well being new to the tour and making the rookie decision of now having a practice round killed me. Not only did I take my shoes and socks off to count my 1st round bogies I had to borrow my wife's toes as well lol
