The Y button was the default bunt button for me. Never had a problem w/hit stick. I played 5 games and had 4 HR's (Could have had 12 but they climbed the wall and robbed me 8 times) 10 singles, 1 double and a triple. Granted that was on the default mode (rookie). My only complaint is they robb HR's with tremendous frequency.
You know I think part of that is they have seemed to pull back on the 450ft blasts that happened all the time. All of my HR seemed to just barely make it over the fence, even with Pujols.
Out of the 8 or so homeruns I hit in 5 games, none of them were robbed. Two of them they jumped up but missed it. Some of them were deep blasts too (around 425). I was able to rob 2 homeruns from the cpu. It does seem easy, but if we turn off the text to remind us to jump, we might have more realistic numbers.
Rookie, and I tried changing the setting but they were grayed out. Did I miss something? Maybe I missed the option to allow me to change the settings?
Did you try resuming? Mine got stuck at 77 and I resumed and found it is still downloading even when it still shows the same number. I did this 4 times after 77 and it sped up and finally finished.
I was reading about others seeing more variation in hitting and less homers at the higher levels. It is probably hidden in the menu somewhere.
I noticed the same thing. I was kind of shocked when I got into the game the first time. Here are some of my observations that I posted on the xbox forums awhile ago. You and I noticed the same things Conner. I have played 5 games. I was the Cardinals in all 5. First at bat w/Pujols..HR Beltran climbed the wall and it bounced off his glove for a HR. In the span of 5 games the Mets OF climbed the wall and robbed me of 7-8 HR's UGHHH. That, I would say, is a little ridiculous. I hope thats because of last year's catch in Game 7 and they wanted some dramatics. If it's the same in the retail version, it will make things VERY ARCADE LIKE. The fielding is a little tough because it's hard to see the ball right off the bat. The good thing is that the AI gets somewhat in position until you get your bearings straight. I'm not sure how the "Dive" stick works. It came up like twice for me and I didn't do it because I didn't need to. Last year, in the outfield, when that happened all you had to do was flick the RS right when it popped up and it was an automatic catch. I hope that's not what it's doing this year as well. Anybody used it yet? The pitcher seems to be right on top of you. That took a little gettting used to. I hope they have different views in the retail ver. When you are batting it's difficult to see how the defense is playing you. Last year's ver. had what they called "smart throws". They don't seem to have that this year. You can either throw it the base you want by pressing the corresponding button or hit RB to throw to the cut-off. I can't figure out if you have to tap A to make the baserunner run faster. I do it out of habit but I wish I knew if it was necessary. Those aren't gripes that I mentioned. I think the game is MUCH improved from last year and so far, will be worth the money for the retail ver. I said the same thing last year until I played it about a week or two and realized what a piece of garbage it was. For now, it's looking good. I will definately purchase the retail ver.
