MS taking away my id

I got the message that my gt has to be changed. This sucks! I have had the same gamertag for years now. I don't get why after all this time I have to give it up.

 

Yea. My dad, Storm Crow, got the message a while ago saying his needed to be changed. He has had the tag since he was a Beta tester, but he still has to change it. He logged on to live today and it MADE him change it. He changed it to StormsVengence but he is still very upset he had to switch.

We get a free game and a free year long subsciption to Live though.....the game we picked was Links but today they sent us Top Spin...them morons. So we get to keep Top Spin I think and they will send us Links (both games we would never want but we had a limited selection to choose from)

 

That sucks, it hasn't and probably won't affect me, but I think it's one of the most ignorant thing happening to gamers.

Many people are cool with it since you get a year of live and a free game out of the deal. However, my name has to do with something from my family and I've had this name as a username since the early 90's and technically I've had it since birth. My thoughts are, what about the poor people that have their websites or other stuff tied to their GT. I hate that this happened to anyone and as I said before, it's just beyond ridiculous that they couldn't figure out a workaround

Or maybe they had a way to get around this but are just to lazy and could care less about the customers.....that sounds like M$$ to me.

you'd think that the person with the name longer would get to keep it, but nope. The guy with ReignMan loses it too. Even though I had the name since beta testing

 

Yeah, it is really gay of them to take people's gamertag away, espesically people like you who have been a customer since the days of Beta. I have not had to change my name but I would be mad if I did, although the free year of live and a game(even though it is shit, maybe you can get a few dollars for a new game you want) I might kind of want to change my name because mine really has no meaning and it is no real big deal to me by which I am called on Live.

 

I hope nobody has socal guy or something gay like that. That would really blow.

 

I talked to the a guy from MS on the phone and said it would be all people changing names that had others with the same name, but with or w/o spaces in the name because of some code that wasn't written to see spaces.

Still no message here, although I'd jump at the chance to change mine if they gave me a free year of live. I'm not too attached to it.

 

I dont know what I would do if someone took my name.

 

Just to let you guys know, I am very aware of the situation with MS and some of you are getting the wrong info. Only the people with spaces in there name and someone has the identical name without spaces would need to change it. So since you have XBoxJon, if someone has XBox Jon, they would need to change it, not you. There is a gamertag in existance under theDestroyer, but it seems to be inactive thankfully. It sucks that so many people have to change their gamertags, its definitely not fair in my opinion.

 

as latdogg was saying, maybe this is the laziest way to their problem is to ask their CUSTOMERS to change their GT (w/c probably most of us is attached to our GT) and just give 1 yr free subscription so that it will not be that much of a hurt

 

If I had to change I would just go with Dumb@ss. I mean that's what they call me anyway.

I don't know if that is true Destroyer as I have been forced to change my tag. I had ElNino during the beta and obviously someone had something like El Nino but I was still forced to change mine as well. I think if there was a gamertag XBox Jon then both would have to change it.

btw: My new tag is ElNino77.... I know, real original.

 

Mine Sucks, I know . I hope some idiot makes an similar one, come on just do it, please.

 

Alot of people are upset about this but I actually wish I could change mine too.
