Other thoughts: -I'll have to test later to see if performance points apply online, because if so that would be exceptionally on EA's part. -Road courses are hilariously fun. I did a couple Sprint challenges at Watkins Glen and Infineon, and it's so much fun just driving around on the edge of control around those two tracks. -One annoying thing about single player is that if you spin and collect a couple cars, you end up getting black-flagged on the restart, which is... frustrating. -I think Martinsville, Daytona, and Richmond will be the most fun tracks to play online. Bristol is a little too unstable for good online racing (everyone will wreck), and the cookie-cutters will be too setup-dependent for real close racing.
I could not agree with you more. With this league and friends though I seem to remember the host can limit the amount of attributes allowed down to nil...look forward to your test , in fact im going to test it also later. Good day.
Just wanted to add a quick "thanks" for the FR. I just accepted them all...looking forward to the racing with you guys, cheers.
Indeed. The 'own the track' thing seems like it would be a really fun thing to compete against people on your friends list with, although I'm not exactly sure of what constitutes 'owning' a track.
As long as that's the case, then I'm perfectly fine with it affecting online play. As long as the league can set rules on how much if any it improves. If the league happens, I'd like to see the competition be seperated more on setups rather then how much time someone has played to max out their performance points.
Well the cool thing about it is that it takes many different factors into consideration when it comes to "owning" the track....and then if you do take it over then there is a "taunt" which is the X button , it sends both a graph of your stats that you had when you "owned" it and also sends you the graph of my stats of what they were when I took over the ownership of that track from you...hence the "unfriendly" achievement.... Anyway Xpress, this is a direct quote I wanted to show you...its from xbox.com and im not saying he is right or wrong, but wanted you to see it...cheers. Quote: "VERY bad news for sim racers? (Not that they should be playing THIS game anyways) Performance points earned in the single player challenges and spent on car improvements affect online play. I've been in multiple online races where people are talking about tweaking setups etc and I blow them away with the stock veteran setup because I earned and spent points offline and they didn't. The performance gap is crazy (and I'm not that good of a driver either...I guess horse power kills all)...try it and see. Maybe setups will matter when everyone maxes out their points, but in the meantime it was a VERY odd decision by EA to go this route..."
Hmm, well that's too bad if PP affects online, but as said above if there's an option to turn it off, that'll work great for our purposes. I can't really tolerate playing with randoms anyway, as with last year's version I found that playing online in a random room was sort of like playing Halo with all the moaning and complaining (and playing like they were on a direct injection of adrenaline with no regard for courtesy), just with older voices coming in through the mic.
I feel you express. I played maybe a total of ten online and maybe one was a legit race. Had some guys purposely spinning guys out and some people going the wrong way
Since I don't have the game yet, has anyone played a game with a full room? Is 14 players online lag free? Is that with AI cars or without? Can you do a full 43 field with the rest being AI cars? Guessing not, as that would probably make the lag horrible but figured I'd ask. I heard there were alot of problems online last year. I didn't play 08, anybody care to share what the problems were? Are we sure they fixed them this year?
In regards to the discussion we were having about the offline performance points and racing online this about says it all. But yea exactly thats why I kept saying many times this league and friends is really the only way to go...if it were not for that then I would have no use for this game on live...I know right now im not going to have every attribute maxxed out on every track type so. http://forums.ea.com/mboards/thread.jspa?threadID=373222&tstart=0 As far as your question on MP , I know you can add AI cars , and I know that they have EU and US on different servers which should help the lag. As of yesterday afternoon EA was already having problems with their servers....every 5 minutes it would kick you off their server (you will get a message telling you) and then for about 3 hours racing online didnt work at all so cant answer more then that.
I hope that's not a indication of what's to come. Why is it only EA has server problems? You would think a multi million dollar company like EA would be on the leading edge fo providing smooth and problem free online play.
My thoughts exactly when it started happening. But by the time It started I was already trying to get some performance points so I would at least have a chance..then after I beefed up my horsepower and tried to play online again is when I noticed it...new game and different servers for different country and needing some tweaking on their part is what I chalked it up to, hopefully its fixed but havent tried today yet. On a side note, for those who dont have the game and are planning on getting it I thought I would share something....in the beginning when you have the choice to choose "normal" or "pro" its up to you of course but all online MP is mandatory "pro" as Jeff will tell you, so through all of my single player racing I keep it on "pro" , my reason is I dont want to get used to a "normal" mode and then go online and be completely unprepared for the change from normal to pro, I didnt notice much of a change in that regards anyway....even if you pick pro you still set your difficulty level as the normal and the pro are just "modes" then you move on to difficulty settings...maybe someone else can say the difference between the normal and pro mode...its not anything I recognized. Cheers.
Would like to join this League if still open. Raced lots in '08 , but never joined a league. So hope to have some fun racing here.
Ok, I've played it for a couple hours now and I must say I love it. If the online play works well, this should be fun. Sign me up.

Personally I think we have enough interest to take the next step. Contact the Admins to get our own forum. I'm going to message nosice, Maruaders, and Demonspawn to see if they want a part in the BOG or whatever we are going to call it. Demon is tied up with the GTA league so I dont think he will.
You can move me up as if the league is formed, I'll join. If all else fails and Tris doesn't have the time to get a working scoreboard, we could always use a site like League Daddy just to keep track of stats and what not.
