Should we record OTL in the standings, not as points just to differentiate OTLs and Ls? *OTL WILL STILL NOT COUNT AS POINTS For example team A is Say they lost 1 game in OT, on here they are 9-1-0 = 18 points Why not make it 9-0-1 = 18 points
Why so teams can push OT near the end if both are close to making it into the top 16, and winner gets the win loser gets the OTL just in case they need it?
Shouldn't teams know where they stand? Not knowing would be wrong for the league. A good example is this: Going into your last series, your seed is dependent on the following: win both and you get it or win 1 and lose in OT. If you don't know your second option in and lose game 1 in OT, you might just consider the last game meaningless. It matters. It's a tiebreaker. Teams should know this information.
GD Aggregate W/L H2H Wasn't there some big conspiracy last iteration of this tournament with teams sharing OT for close games as I mentioned earlier. Games tied near the end of the third, both teams allow it to go to OT and find a winner there, both teams profit some how from it. Really want to waste our time with that? When there are so many other metrics used to tell the difference. If anything G/D will motivate teams to not step off the gas on weak opponents because racking up easy goals against teams everyone will see is a no brainer.
It happened in real hockey before! Philly and Buffalo did it one year so they both could make playoffs. They both needed 1 point to clinch. They wasted the last 1:30 of the game. It happens. I understand it may not get to that point, but if it does? If it needs to get used, the people need to know. Hopefully it doesn't happen, but don't say you shouldn't know something before a game about your team that will impact a playoff spot. It will compromise the leaguest if someone thinks their out of it, even if they aren't out of it entirely.
OTLs will not be points. Our current Tiebreakers: H2H Record H2H GD Beyond that we were using Overall GD We could switch to: Record vs #1 Record vs #2 etc.
Devils advocate here, I don't care either way. I'm just 75% sure they got rid of them for that reason.
I mean it would be cool if they did but it was voted down which is probably the right call for this style tournament but why not just show it in the standings. I understand not being rewarded for a loss that makes sense i wasn't one of the ones to argue that, but would still be cool to show we lost in OT instead of we lost in regulation and just keep it at 0 points either way but have the record show 5-0-1 10points instead of 5-1-0 10points. For example last season we went 18-20 finished 12th We were actually 18-11-9 Im still cool with us finishing 12th and having the same amount of points since the majority decided no points should be awarded for a loss at all and i agree but why not still record it, especially if were recording stats? It also makes it look a little more respectable you know (not saying just us i know there were a bunch of teams but sort of makes the standings look more respectable then it looking like there were 4 good teams and then everyone else
Forget it Lou these nerds only know e-sports + 'puters, nothing about the game itself. they want us to take stats and if we don't we get suspended + lose points (lol) but a key stat like when + how the game was won/lost is irrelevant
Chel fuckin 16 allows anybody the ability to almost always almost win. Do we need to track how many times a team almost won now?
showing OTL's is just another reason for bad players to make them feel better about themselves just cause they lost in OT instead of losing in regulation. 18-11-9 is the same as 18-20, just 18-11-9 looks prettier cause you have a higher number in the first column. In the NHL playoffs when they show someones record I don't see them putting a column in that record for OTL's. You know why? Cause they mean nothing and a loss is a loss in playoffs.
