With the final week of the ESHL regular season just around the corner, I thought it would be interesting to look at the strength of schedule of the teams still in the playoff hunt. With 8 games left, there is a possible 24 points up for grabs, so technically to make the playoffs you currently only need 96 points. Which leaves us with 25 teams who can potentially make it to the postseason as of right now. I separated the 46 teams into 5 different categories : Top 8 playoff teams, bottom 8 playoff teams, teams still in the hunt for the playoffs (9 teams), officialy eliminated teams (14 teams) and automatically forfeited teams (7 teams). Afterwards I went through each of the final 25 teams who are still in the mix to make it to the postseason and seperated each of their opponents into the 5 categories listed above. I also listed the number of points the current playoff teams need to clinch a birth to the postseason. Keep in mind that there may be more forfeits from some teams that are officially eliminated. I simply took the 17th place team Dog Dads who currently has 94 pts and added the most possible points they could get (24 pts). This gave me a total of 118 pts. So the 118 pts is the total pts needed to clinch as of right now.
