That's a good question. I know you can randomly match up with them, but I don't think you can set up a party with people across consoles/platforms. I posted that before I realized that. On the PS4 I don't think you've ever been able to do that with the steam guys. EDIT: Apparently you can set up private matches cross console. So like a team would have to consist of PS4 guys assuming it worked.
this needs to happen for playstation this game is wicked fun. I could wait for cross platforming tho.
So you think its possible that there could be teams for each console, and some how they can be invited to play against each other?
they wouldn't add cross platforming then not let you set up private matches with ur friends from the other console. They would probably have a friendlist system in rocket league to allow people to set up private matches.
The way it currently works on PS4 (and I'm assuming xbox) is that you can cross play with people on PC who have the game on steam. You match up against these guys all of the time. You can tell because their avatar says "PSY NET." You can't use the chat function with them, but the quick chat commands work. You set up a private match and apply a password or whatever and all they have to do is put in the password and you can play. The only thing you can't do is have a mix of players from different platforms in a party together. Considering you don't need to be in a party to join a private match I'm wondering if it is actually possible to have a mix of players from both consoles on the same team. It's worth testing if Sony allows for cross play.
