Pokemon League On LeagueGaming

Hi my name is Rico, I'm looking to start the first ever Pokemon League on this wonderful site known as Leaguegaming.com. While I'm still working on details about a potential league, please comment on things you would like to see in the league. If you're interested in a competitive and fun new league please leave a comment or show this thread to friends.

I forgot one of the most important things (Where would this all take place) While I think the 3DS is a great system, I feel it would cause more issues then we need as a new league. The idea would be to use a Pokemon Battle Simulator, PokemonShowdown to be specific (Best Option IMO).

doubles or singles? im in regardless but would prefer doubles

 

Looking to keep it at Singles. Feel its a lot easier to pick up and play, which is half the goal of this.

 

looks like i gotta brush up on my singles play, also if you want to get more people in that dont own ds's pokemonshowdown is a free battle simulator

 

PokemonShowdown is the best option for this league IMO

 

What do you mean by "pokemon draft"? So basically we draft the pokemon on the site and can only use those? I think it would be more beneficial using LGUHL style where essentially your "Hut" team in this is your pokemon squad. If you want to set up restrictions where you have to designate 10 pokemon out of your entire collection I think that is better. Also if you took that list of 10 you selected and you HAVE to use them by the end of the week, they must be used in 2 games, i think that is a good basis to go off of.

 

i think 3DS is the system to go with, more people have it and its more common for pokemon.

 

There should be a singles as well as a doubles group. Maybe go with a tournament style for doubles where it is held once a week.

 

draft style works well, makes it so the same pokemon arent used. there is like 750 pokemon, everyone will get good and not so good pokemon to make it balanced

 

A drafted tier system I think is the way to go. Not only would it keep it as balanced as possible the strategy involved would make it very competitive and fun.

Some of you may not know this, or do, but Minecraft (Ew Minecraft) actually has a good system for pokemon called "Pixelmon". It's actually pretty cool where you have to start off with a starter pokemon, level that pokemon up, and catch other pokemon. Idk if this would work for league and how you want to do it Rico but it's also a pretty cool option and this comment is just for information only.

However, I know the consensus for most of the league is "Ew, Minecraft" so please excuse me.

 

pixelmon is a cool immersive experience for pokemon, but its sort of aids for battling and also watching/recording battles. I fucking love pixelmon tho

 

I remember reading about that, thought it was pretty cool lol. PokemonShowdown has a really simple replay system so it would be perfect for what we're trying to do here

 

would this be a season long thing or a weekly tournament? i like the tournament idea especially for pokemon

 

I was thinking of doing it how we have the NHL leagues. Full schedule, maybe like a 10 game season with playoffs at the end. Depends on signups and what other people want to do. Goal is to have a fully operational league.
