    S Video vs "The

Im guessing S-Video is better, but how much better than the thing you "screw" in to the back to your TV? Just wanted to get a better picture from my digital box.

And if S Video is better, where can I find an under 5 ft cord, and how much should I be looking to spend?

    Re: S Video vs &quot

By "screw" thing, I'm guessing you mean a coax connection? ie. like the cable tv, cable modem etc.

Coax is at the bottom of the food chain for video quality, pretty much the same as a composite connection (yellow/white/red) although at least with composite you seperate the video signal (yellow) from the audio (red/white) unlike coax with has everything running through it.

S-video is slightly better than composite, but still nowhere near component video (which seperates the video signal into 3 colors, red/green/blue).

You mention your digital box. I'm guessing you mean digital cable? If that's the case, use the S-video. It probably doesn't have component video, but will need to if your cable co. ever upgrades to HD cable boxes (I know, a pipe dream).

Thanks Jon. I dont think they have a component cable output, so I guess the best I can get would be with S Video. I will give it a try.

you won't see much difference except for like on the shades of certain colors will be better between S-Video and Composite.

You really need to get the puppy hooked up with component with HDTV support so you can really see how good the games look though. It is a world of difference.

If she is like most wifes they don't understand the importance of electronics and the quality of the picture and sound but when they actually see and hear the difference they accept. Just go for it and if she grips it is easier to ask forgiveness then ask permission :p

He's not talking about his XBox.

He's talking about his "digital box" in the 1st post, which I assumed to mean his digital cable box.

Most cable boxes don't have component out, unless they are HD cable boxes.

Well just got the S Video thing, and the picture looks much cleaner/sharper. Not anywhere HDTV quality, but better than what it was before.
