LGAHL S26 All Star Festivities

Fellow LGAHLers...

I've been given the green light by the commissioner's office to move forward with planning the All Star festivities. I have 2 ideas I'm working with and am putting it up for vote. Which of the following would you rather see?

Idea 1.

Follow NHL's system of a tournament. Obviously it would have to be 6v6...but yeah...single elim tourney...Last division standing faces a team of Management All Stars. This way, the players get to do their own thing, but the managers get to be involved and we create some fun banter between players and GMs for a night.

Idea 2

Go with the old ASG idea of just building 2 teams (3 lines) and doing it via a draft, pooling ALL potential AHL all star players into the same draft...but both teams playing a BO3 series. Same idea here though, I'd have a separate team of GMs (2 lines) and they face the winner of the BO3 in their OWN BO3 for bragging rights.

I plan on the Player's tournament games being played at the END of week 7...hopefully that Friday night...and the Champs vs Managers games the following Friday. If we can fit them in 1 night...I think that would be better off...but that's a shit ton of hockey for one night. If people are open to Saturday...we can do a Friday/Saturday thing too. These are all options that are open for discussion. But please, TRY to select an option that you think would best suit the league as a whole...not just what you want individually. I'll also need some committee members to vote on players once we start building the draft pool...whether divisional or not. All teams MUST be represented in the Player's ASGs.

 

Would be nice to have a sign up list for people who actually want to participate. It's hard fielding all star without knowing who would even show up for it.

 

"Your" version is the NHL's version. Stop acting like someone stole your things. Last season you didn't want to involve Managers. It was also organized last minute on one of the most popular holidays of the year. I'm ensuring that this will be avoided this season. Don't turn this into a pissing match...I'm trying to do something good for the AHL.

 

We should do a manager's all-star game

 

Ladies, ladies, I'm sure you both can work together. Or better yet start a feud. Buck versus Pivot, who can build the better AllStar team. Battle to the death. Or we can post a new thread and vote on it. All these a great ideas.

 

I have my reasons to not watch your shows. None of which will be discussed here. This isn't about your show, this is about putting something positive forward for the AHL to look forward to. You guys have provided Media and have been very consistent with it. We don't even talk, and as you said...I don't watch your show...so how the hell would i know what you have planned and when? I asked Brodie, he approved. This wasn't personal, stop taking it that way...this is ridiculous.

How sick would it be do to like shootouts and long range sauce competitions and fun stuff like that

Last season the real All-Stars game was Game 7 Stockton vs Admirals or CLE vs MIL, Idk.

 

Here's an idea, if you don't wanna play decline the invite. Last few all star games have been hindered by guys not caring.

You don't care? Great fuck off and give your spot to someone who will take it seriously. Happy you're taking this on piv lately ahl all star games have been managers looking for free trophies and their buddies.

 

Easy way to stop people not showing up is to have the people be decided two weeks before and give them a deadline of 2-3 days to answer/RSVP for the spot. If they don't, give it to the person with the most votes after them. @PivotGivinner

 

Alright...so this baby is set in stone. Option 1 will be the way to go with this. So now...I need YOU!!!! I'm building a 5 person committee to help not only produce the ASG Festivities, but you will also have a hand in voting for the players!!! I'm looking specifically for 3 people as I already have 1 selected, plus myself. Please reply to the thread and let me know if you have any interest in helping out. If you're only applying to vote for buddies or teammates, don't waste my time. I'm looking for people who can set bias aside and actually contribute in a positive way. If this is successful...there's NO reason we can't make this annual. The community is always asking for things to make the league a better, funner place to play...let's make this event one of those things.

All the details regarding this ASG stuff will be posted in a separate post. I have a few little surprises that may help make this a little more special and worth putting time into!!!
