This will be a brief update with a percentage update for each division and also highlighting specific teams who are under performing or playing well above their expectations. PLAYOFF PERCENTAGES Metropolitan Division: Surprise: None, nobody is really playing above their expectations. Disappointment: Philadelphia Flyers: 4-12-1 Although the Flyers were not expected to be a playoff team in my eyes they were at least supposed to be a potential surprise for the wild card. After two weeks Carch has almost quit the league and the management team is holding players like @x Neal x 18 x hostage with scheduling. What is most surprising is only 28 goals for in two weeks, less than a 2 GPG average. Islanders (Y) - 90% Devils (X) - 80% Penguins (X) - 70% Blue Jackets (W) - 60% Capitals - 40% Hurricanes - 35% Rangers - 10% Flyers - 10% Atlantic Division: Surprise: Boston Bruins 12-4-2 At the start of the season it was hard to say if Boston had the defensive depth to be a playoff team with many questions on the overall look of the core. They have proven many wrong with a reliable enough defense as well as bringing in a better goaltender. To think without KB they'd still be maintaining a good record makes this team my surprise for the first two weeks. Disappointment: Detroit Red Wings 8-9-1 Sweet Lou has just had a lot of bad breaks so far, something that cannot happen in this rather deep division. Hopkins not being able to play is a huge blow to the offense that was expected to carry most of the workload for a thin defense. Lou may be able to pull off a miracle and improve the defense somehow but that is yet to be seen. Maple Leafs (Z) 85% Lightning (X) - 85% Bruins (X) - 70% Panthers (W) -65% Canadiens - 50% Senators - 40% Red Wings - 40% Sabers - 15% Pacific Division: Surprise: Los Angeles Kings 9-9-0 The reason why LA has the third seed in the division currently is more about other teams failing than their team succeeding, but at the very least they are doing a good enough job. If they can maintain the average play while others continue their trends they may snag a decent playoff spot. Disappointment: Arizona Coyotes 5-11-3 Arizona had a lot of hype entering the season. Two excellent forward lines, two top pair dmen, and a top goalie tandem in the league. After tonight they moved their 0-5-1 Arch/Fly line, moved one of those top two dmen, and traded away their great backup. I don't see much improvement from those trades either, but they most certainly needed a shakeup. Sharks (Z) - 95% Canucks (X) - 75% Golden Knights (X) - 60% Kings - 50% Coyotes - 50% Flames - 40% Oilers - 20% Ducks - 20% Central Division: Surprise: Winnipeg Jets 14-4-0 Winnipeg was one of the two 9-0 teams after one week, topping it off with a 2-1 win over their divisional rival in Chicago. The second week was a bit shakier with losses to top teams in PIT and NYI, but they also lost out to weaker divisional teams as well. The biggest surprise is the goaltending duo performing so well. Disappointment: Minnesota Wild 7-9-2 All facets of the Minnesota team have been under performing so far, with a total of 41 goals for and 51 against. They may not be doing horrible but when you don't have a single department you excel in be it offense, defense, or goaltending it becomes rather difficult to pull out wins when one group has a bad night. The poor performance caused Shockz, Stieny and CT to be shipped for ScareyJoey and Hot Rivit which may be the shakeup they need to become a wild card team. Blackhawks (Y) - 95% Jets (X) - 80% Avalanche (X) - 65% Wild (W) - 55% Blues (W) - 55% Stars - 20% Predators - 20%
@APsychicTaco never once said I was going to quit . Bad enough you are a scrub goalie now you are a scrub reporter too. Guess I shouldn't be surprised seeing how both jobs require no thought
