S28 The Awards Race - End of Week 7

Legacy won the award last year playing 12 or 13 games versus non playoff teams.
Look at the Western Central Division. 4 teams between 69 and 66 points. Bridgeport is one point of out of loffs. Same with Texas...It doesn't matter if you label teams as playoff/non playoff. By going by Bucks logic then all those teams should be considered "Playoff teams"

 

This is exactly what I’m saying. You want to put difficulty of schedule you have to look at games and like lines that are playing. Playoff teams third lines shouldn’t count as “harder “ this is NHL 18 don’t matter who you’re playing it’s a grind some nights to win.

Honestly if you want a fair MVP choice, you have to look at who makes the biggest impact to their team.
What player would the team not nearly be as successful without?
While all these guys are studs and have plenty of statistical evidence to support their case, it is not always point-based for who should be the MVP.
No one other than those who actually go through and look at each individual game and the opponents of all of the nominated players can make a realistic enough judgement.

Not sure who will be apart of the awards committee or if it will just be the media team, but whoever is in charge of these picks will obviously all vote on their winners until they agree on a candidate.

Great write up @Jon l10l. Obviously you cant please everyone but for you to do this on your own time is worth recognition. Thanks for the nod in GM of the year running, we've worked hard to build a good team this season and hopefully we can show that the East is more than capable of hanging with the big guns of the West! (who knows, maybe the eastern conference will three-peat as champs!

And 'playoff teams' is hardly relevant because that changes week to week over the course of the season.
Not to rag on bakersfield, but their line of Sanctify-Giroux-Salty-Grocery (forget who the other winger was) was a top line on a non-playoff team that was a solid line. (and obviously better than 3rd lines on playoff teams)
But everyone will be super quick to call someone a scrub hunter for playing against Bakersfield without even looking at the lineup. Just some food for thought
