If you have been living under a rock, I'll fill you in. The Rangers win the first couple games in dominating fashion, and the Flyers get a favorable match up in Game 3 to attempt to close the gap in the series. In a game which some definitely wrote off the Rangers, they use some of their stud "AHL" players and beat the Flyers to make it a 3-0 series. Or do they? Regardless of whatever the situation was, the result ended up being a forfeit for the Rangers and one of their top players losing a game. The Flyers take full advantage of how it played out by winning the next 3 games and eliminating the Rangers in 6. They showed up early to Game 1 like any responsible player would do which allowed them to split with the Leafs' deadly West line. The Leafs also opted to use their top center in Game 2 which likely hurt their depth later on. The Canes go up 3-1 in the series before a huge game by the Leafs and they drub the Canes 4-1. An ECU-filled Game 6 saw the Leafs looking scarier than expected, but a huge hat trick from @Breaky and a fluky goal credited to @Best in Ottawa saw the Hurricanes eliminate the Leafs and avoid a nightmare Game 7 scenario. The Canes may be back to full strength this week which should make them an even more formidable opponent than last week. The Flyers and Hurricanes both have some good forward depth, but the Hurricanes might have the edge with chemistry. Carolina just seems to be on a hot streak ever since the trade deadline, and they have a bunch of guys coming off big playoff performances. The Hurricanes need to win it before it goes to 7, but they're the team of destiny so we'll see what fate decides. The Kings then got their share of good match ups and were able to beat the Ducks' 3rd line twice forcing a Game 6. @SoY LoS 19 scores the game-winner with 54 seconds left in the 3rd period of Game 6 to force a Game 7. They couldn't quite pull off the reverse sweep, though, with the Ducks smothering the Kings in Game 7 and securing a second consecutive trip to the Conference Finals. Their opponent was the Coyotes coming off a big upset over the Presidents' Trophy winners who they eliminated in 5 games. Despite looking a little shaky in Game 1, they end up pulling out a close 4-3 victory. After that, Colorado's depth proved to be overwhelming as they send the Coyotes home early after Game 5. The Avalanche might be even more determined, though, after losing in both of the last two Western Conference Finals. The Avalanche appear to have the depth on defense which could be the difference maker. Both teams certainly want to avoid a Game 7 as anything can happen in a single-game, winner-takes-all finale.
