Media S5 AHLPSN Eastern Atlantic Division Write-Up

Bridgeport Sound Tigers :

After losing in the first round to the Hershey Bears in 6 games last season, @Rowbo73 is returning as GM trying to improve on last seasons playoff push.

Players to Watch: @jansta-dude, @killerzqc

Forwards:

On paper, the Sound Tigers are a very deep team. Bringing in @jansta-dude will hope to expand on his success he found in San Antonio last season. They brought in two rookies, @Matty_Lucci and @Skitzo369, hoping they can make the jump to the AHL. This forward core will have very spread out scoring depth and has a lot of smart contracts. Depending on the line setups, this team could have a very dangerous first line, but scoring might come in waves.

Defencemen:

The DCore Rowbo and Sunshine has built really is this teams strength. @droxx22 and @gatesse are both very solid players and will bring a solid left side. @EdibleBrownies will finish out the left side, Edible is a good stay at home defenceman, it'll be interesting if he can bring his 1PPG success to the AHL. On the right side, Bridgeport has brought back @killerzqc. Killerz had an amazing S4, And will only improve being paired with Gatesse or DRoxx. @Coldshot1982 is the 2nd rookie on this dcore, Hoping he can solidify that 3rd line. @Fatjoedashow1984 joins Bridgeport with a contract of $750k, This is a no lose situation, Joe brings NHL and AHL experience and will try and lead this team to the playoffs.

Goalies:

Rowbo and Sunshine has gone the affordable route for goaltending, with having a tandem costing just $1m. @BANJOBOY19 is back to goalie after playing S4 as a RD. He has average goalie numbers and looks for a breakout season this year. @headhunter9872 is the other goalie. Making the switch from forward to goalie. The bold strategy of bringing in two players who haven't played goalie may cost them some games.


Hartford Wolf Pack:

Coming off a very rough S4, Hartford has gone with a new management crew, bringing in @premierplayer. Alongside Premier is @Too-Rough-2008 coming from the WBS Penguins.

Players to watch: @Buildingwhat, @CrAzY_NaTiVE-_-, @KimOPereZ

Forwards:

Hartford's big fish this season is @Agesquod with a $5.75m contract. Ages posted good CHL numbers but hasn't found success in the AHL when playing as an ECU. Cashing in at $5.5m is @whoboonedya, who is back after taking S4 off. Like Ages, @whoboonedya had major success in the CHL and hope it translates to the AHL. @Buildingwhat, @yeeyee_dipper and @Brahma_Bull14 all bring some depth scoring and should succeed with this team setup. @premierplayer, @czechsniper040 and @PhistMYace will all look for breakout seasons as they have struggled in the past at this level. This teams wildcard is @brothers1873_. After ripping apart NYR, the future for Brothers doesn't look like it will be in Hartford. Besides his rough attitude and tendencies to be a problem for management, Brothers is a good player that should put up points.

Defencemen:

Hartford made a great move by bringing in S4 Texas duo @CrAzY_NaTiVE-_- and @KimOPereZ. Both very good defencemen that will lead this teams first pairing. @TheMcKapy is a scoring defenceman who came cheap at $500k, He should bring a scoring touch to this defense core.

Goalies:

Having one of the better tandems in the league with @ses-DRAGON-ses and @tibod68, These goalies will post some very good numbers behind Hartford's dcore and will be able to carry if needed. This tandem came fairly cheap at $2.25m and it'll be interesting to see how the games are split between them.

Hershey Bears:

After going all the way and losing the the Calder Cup finals, @X BoB SwAGG3R X returns as GM, bringing in @Maddens26 after a NML issue with @MafiaMan15. This team is looking to upgrade on its success last season and winning it all.

Players to watch: @P00Dkcaj, @moosapotamus33, @nismo_l18l

Forwards:

Hershey may have the best forward core in the league. This team will be scoring like maniacs and will create fear in the Eastern Conference. On the left side, @Maddens26, @nismo_l18l and @XvSniiper_21 are all proven scorers who put up very good numbers. Down the middle they have @X BoB SwAGG3R X and @Chowski777, Possibly the best 1-2 Center depth in the league, and on the 3rd line they have @h3lln1nj4, A very good slept on defensive center. Getting the big name this season in @P00Dkcaj, The first line will be unstoppable. @JuniorDC9 is another very good scorer on the wing. @Dylan_Bellz will be making his AHL rookie season, With this core around him, he will be able to produce for Hershey.

Defencemen:

Hershey's defense is without a doubt their weakness, @bobbatta is a great first line RD and will continue to produce with Hershey. @PlusSizePounder and @dmitch420 are both returning and will solidify that left side. @wolfric_99 is a very good deal at only $500k and should be able to add depth the this dcore.

Goalies:

Lehigh Valley Phantoms:

After a joke of a S4, the Phantoms are also under new management with @Jg3542jg and @TylerLOEKEY. This team looks like it has some promise but could struggle and have a S4 repeat with this competition.

Players to watch: @cfaia30, @TylerLOEKEY

Forwards:

The Forwards are clearly this teams strength. @BAD-N-TENSIONS and @Spray_and_pray_ will both be producing at the price of their contracts, @T_H_E_C_H_E_F had a good season with Bridgeport and should be able to score more with LVP this season. @YoImCory will be the number 1 center and can hopefully produce more than 50 points this season with that $3.5m contract. @cfaia30 is back via bidding. He went fairly cheap after having an extremely hot start to S4, but cooled down towards the end. If Cfaia can get hot and stay hot, he will be a danger. @Canadasmostwante looks like a good winger after having a good year in the CHL, Hopefully he can translate that scoring into the AHL.

Defencemen:

This defensive core looks a little suspect and might struggle versus the offensive minded teams of the Eastern Atlantic Division. @jonhardcoq made the switch to LD, hopefully there some experience there. Spending the big money on @S4l636 was a good move, Very good defenceman that can carry that first line role. @Notorious250 and @FriedPickle19 will both supply depth along that right side.

Goalies:

@TylerLOEKEY has established himself as one of the AHL's elite goaltenders. He can and will carry the majority of the load for this tandem. He is more than capable of bailing out this shaky dcore. @Joecon- is a very good goaltender too. This tandem will make up for the defenceman's mistakes. This could easily be one of the better tandems in the league.

Providence Bruins:

Providence, a S4 playoff team is looking to improve on being a 1st round exit. @EVILDESTINY64 is the new GM alongside @Lizardsarmy, trying to avoid a repeat of S4 Reign.

Players to watch: @Slickrick9876, @TvG_KillEmAll, @NeWFie-KaNaTa

Forwards:

Providence looks like they took a step back from last season, but they still have very dangerous pieces. @Kevrobert, @Slickrick9876 and @overkill2020 will all put up numbers. @Lizardsarmy looks for a breakout year after struggling last season. @J_Pedro13 and @big_tony666 both look like very promising rookies. @xMagicMan13x looks like a steal at 500k if his production translates to the AHL.

Defencemen:

@EVILDESTINY64 made the switch to LD, and after a good preseason, looks like a good depth dman. @heatherlb123 at $750k is a very good deal and wil tear it up. Providence is running with 5 Left Defencemen and needs to move a dman before the season starts. @Nine2Fiver was very good in the CHL and is finally getting his shot in the AHL, hopefully he can continue to be a solid shutdown dman.

Goalies:

Providence went big spending $2.75m on @NeWFie-KaNaTa, Newfie is a great goalie and will have better connection this season, hopefully he can live up to that massive cap hit. @koberipple was a CHL RD last season who made the switch to goalie. Hopefully he can stay up as he has looked good throughout pre season.

Springfield Thunderbirds:

After just missing the post season last year, @Iceblock84 returns as GM with his partner in crime @DrtMcGrt. They have taken a whole new look and brought on a lot of new names. This looks like a playoff roster.

Players to watch: @MafiaMan15, @afro_5amurai_454, @Kepler14733, @Tys_got_tush

Forwards:

Aside from Hershey, Springfield might have the strongest forward core. @MafiaMan15 was a huge get at $7m. He brings experience and can be used as a tool in inner-division play versus Hershey. @M-L-N83 and @LudiChris1214 are both dangerous wingers to finish off the right side. @StanleysCup was resigned and will tear up the league, at only $1.25m he may be one of the better contracts for Centers. @flyers22890, @l0lCorbzzl3l are this cores rookies and both will produce with the support around them. @afro_5amurai_454 will tear up the league if played with Mafia, he has the tools to be one of the leagues best LWs.

Defencemen:

Lead by @Iceblock84, the left side will be very strong. @Iceblock84 and @Kepler14733 are both very good defencemen who can carry a line, paired with the strong forwards, we could see a lot of offensive production from @Kepler14733. @Bry2230 and @JBask both great right defencemen with NHL experience that can lead this team to victory. @woeisme2185 looks like a good solid rookie who will get another shot with Springfield this season.

Goalies:

A huge part of Springfield's success last season was BiPolarJew, With BiPolar retired, @Tys_got_tush is going to fill his position well. Ty had a strong season 4 and will look to continue that success. @Baconweave is a good solid backup option. Iceblock made a solid tandem with a cap hit of only $1.25m.

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins:

WBS coming off a good season 4, losing to Hershey in the second round. @steel243 and @Mg2452 will try and lead this team past the 2nd round.

Players to watch: @Tanger7758, @Dangles4days, @Kin_Pin_o8

Forwards:

WBS went big money for @Kin_Pin_o8, with $4.75m. Kin makes a return for the first time since S1 where he put up 63 points in the NHL. If Kin is able to produce at that caliber in the AHL, He will be among the leagues top scorers. @myers03 had a breakout season in S4 and will look to continue that scoring this year while solidifying the right side. @Tanger7758 was given $3m in bidding after spending last season in the NHL, the lower competition in the AHL should trigger his scoring touch. @Firestorm19 is an intersting pickup at $1m with NHL experience from seasons 1 and 2.

Defencemen:

Last season WBS' strength was their defense core. this season they dont look as strong as the back end. @TRmisery was very good for Tuscon last season but will have to live up to that $4.75m cap hit. @Tposey34 is an interesting pickup, exNHLer in seasons 1 and 2 like @Firestorm19. @gooberdude99 will look to stay AHL all season this time, and is a low risk high reward option at $500k. @ZingA-_-, @Dangles4days and @Seedoftavares will all bring good depth to the team.

Goalies:

@Alexcleroux1995 is back in WBS with a much bigger contact at $2m. Alex is a very good goalie and will put up great numbers on this team. @JBrodeur435 is an interesting backup choice but is also low risk at only $500k.
