Restricted Free Agency (RFA)​

Restricted Free Agency [RFA] is for Players whom are under contract for Season 4 and wish to change their position. These types of positional changes are only available during the off-season and this thread will be locked Monday, Jan 23, 8 PM EST. No further applications will be accepted after this thread is closed.

There are three prerequisites a player must meet in order to qualify for RFA eligibility:

Condition #1

Under Contract

A player MUST be under contract heading into Season 4 in order to qualify for RFA. Example: Player has accepted a multiseason contract that will still be in effect for next season.​

Condition #2

Must Be Requesting One Of the Following Positional Changes

Forward to Defense or vice versa

Forward to Goalie or vice versa

Defense to Goalie or vice versa​

Condition #3

Must Be In The NHL or AHL

Players who accepted 2-season CHL contracts do not need to go into RFA as there is no position lock in the CHL. ​

Since Forwards are free to play any forward position (C-LW-RW) and Defense are free to play either defensive position (LD-RD), please contact your team's management regarding these cosmetic position changes. We will not process those changes in this thread.

*** VERY IMPORTANT - Once an application to take part in RFA is completed and filled out, the player is NOT ELIGIBLE to retract their RFA claim. ***​
