Season 8 Selke Finalists

Before we start, I want to make sure everyone knows that no member of the committee was or will be allowed to vote for an award in which they are nominated.

The Community Vote will be included in the final vote, along with the committee votes.

Also, for Strength of schedule, the lower the number, the tougher your schedule. If your SOS was a 7.8 (Conf) and a 15.2 (League), your average game played would be against the 8th place team in the conference, and 15th in the league as a whole. Really high=really poor SOS

On top of that, something new we have introduced this season is SOS (Lines), for this we had people go through every single game for every single nominee, and determine at the time of that game, what line they were facing off against. We initially tested this with one person's games, and had 2 of us go through each game independently and write down what we thought each line was. We found that we agreed on every single game, so we went through the rest working together. Can it be considered subjective? Yes, but we have people doing this who are about as unbiased as you can get, and we felt like this measurement combined with the normal team-based SOS would paint a fuller picture.

We've also added Home and Away records, both this and the line based SOS were heavily requested, this is our first go around with it, so if you guys think there are better ways, we are open to suggestions.

Finally, to explain a new stat that we've included this season, from the thread where it was first added to the site; "Own End Efficiency (OEE): While many people who never get points claim to be “shutdown” defenders few are, this is your put up or shut up stat boys. Measuring the amount of time an opponent needs to score on average against you." Pretty straightforward, the higher the number, the better in zone defense you've been playing. It's how much zone time opponents need to score against you.

If you guys have any questions as to why someone was not included, I will be happy to answer and provide the numbers to back it up.

The 15 million-dollar man himself is up for the selke once again to much surprise. He has won 3 selkes in his LG career; the only season he played where he didn’t win it was when he got banned in season 4. He has a strong case to win it this season posting the best goals against average of all selke finalists. On top of that Claus finished 2nd in takeaways, 1st in Faceoff Percentage, and 1st in plus minus among finalists. Where he struggled though was with penalty minutes and giveaways. He ranked last among finalists in penalty minutes with 22 and last in giveaways with 425. Also Josh managed to have the 2nd worst team based strength of schedule at 15.41. However Claus didn’t lose a single game in regulation and won 27 games, the most of any finalist and played some tough competition in doing this where he played more 1st lines than any selke finalist. I think the real question is would he still be considered a contract dud after winning the selke?

ScaryJoeyy, generally more known as a top xbox center has come back to psn where he previously won the selke in season 1. Now looking to win his 2nd selke on psn Joeyy boasted the 2nd best goals against average amongst selke finalists and the best goals against average vs playoff teams with an impressive 1.23. He had the 2nd best faceoff percentage and the 2nd fewest losses, only losing 3 games this season. Despite this Joey had the least amount of takeaways and only mustered 28 takeaways vs playoff teams. His PPKE% (Personal Penalty Kill Efficiency Percentage) was the lowest at 79.2% and had the lowest plus minus at a +37. Conversely Joey obtained the 2nd fewest giveaways, managed to get the 2nd highest OEE (Own End Efficiency) at 3:28 and was the most disciplined of the bunch only taking 8PIMs.

Being seen as more of a 2nd liner previously to this season, 2way had a very impressive season with the Panthers and is now up for the selke. 2way had the 2nd most wins of selke finalists and lead the bunch in takeaways with 118. 2way did struggle though in terms of goals against average where he was last and his own end efficiency ranked 4th among finalists. Along with that he had the 2nd lowest faceoff percentage and 2nd lowest plus minus. On the other hand he had the best PPKE (Personal Penalty Kill Efficiency Percentage) at an outstanding 93.5%. He also had the 2nd best faceoff percentage among finalists when playing playoff teams.

After leading the flyers to the playoffs last season, reap has returned to the metropolitan division, but this time teaming up with Bo and taking GM for the rangers. Reap looks to win his first selke where he was 3rd in goals against average and was 3rd in plus minus. In doing this though he had the toughest team based strength of schedule. On the contrary reap had the fewest wins in general as well as vs playoff teams. Reap had the 2nd fewest takeaways and ranked last in OEE (Own End Efficiency). Despite this reap had the least amount of giveaways at only 188, that was 136 less than 2nd on this list.

McLovin isn’t only jumping up the ranks in terms of ESHL, but also LG where he surprisingly is playing on the same team he was on last season, but this time as a GM instead of his 11 million dollar contract. McLovin finished 2nd in overall plus minus as well as plus minus vs playoff teams. He also took the 2nd least amount of penalties among selke finalists. However he has the 2nd most giveaways and the 2nd fewest wins at 23. McLovin also turned into McScrubhunter this season only playing 6 first lines and had the 2nd worst overall goals against average as well as the 2nd worst goals against average vs playoff teams. McPkGod came out though where he ranked 2nd in PPKE among finalists. Mclovin also finished 3rd in OEE amongst finalists.

Just would like to have it noted that JClaus' stats vs playoff and non playoff teams were slightly off. He had a 14-0-2 record vs playoff teams and a 1.50GAA instead of being 16-0-2 with a 1.44GAA, but he was also 13-0-0 vs non-playoff teams with a 1.31GAA rather than being 9-0-0 with a 1.66GAA.

 

Neither are you, 3:1 Claus ratio and growing. At least you get a pat on the back.

I finished with 18 less pts than you playing with half ecu lineups for half the season. A dead horse could win with PTP on RD and BBK on RW. You're good but you talk too much, pretty annoying.

A selke with Nuge, Sloshy on D in psn's horrible first ssn shouldn't even count. AND KOPI LOL, these owners were shit.

 

c'mon thats 2 easy. I will say, I do enjoy watching top players play with average lineups and falling back down to earth in next gen. Its a dick sucking contest for the most part. You just shouldn't talk when you're not even in this race, talent actually existed this season.

 

4th, but I disagree. The defense is the largest issue on psn - but forward depth isn't terrible. (mainly because defense is better all around build wise and gave you the ability to show off a lot more skill, any dumbshit can play fwd)
