My first course is finally published. I beat GTA Heists!!!! I'm sure there's going to be stuff I'll want to change as it gets played. So here's to hoping HB puts in a feature to edit published courses in the future.(Still not sold on the firmness and green speed) Bethpage is my favorite course, so expect this to be mean at some points, but it gives back in other spots. Have fun!
if anyone plays and streams, send me a PM prior(goes to my phone). I wouldn't mind tagging along!! I'm looking at you RickyBee2
Really like the course. Unfortunately it was spoiled for me by the 92's. But im going to play again and stream. PM incoming...
I dont think so, it happened to me more often then not all day yesterday. Sahalee rounds 2 and 3 were soooo frustrating because of it lol
I played the course and didn't get a single 92. The only time I got a 92 was on every approach shot on hole #3 during Sahalee
I've played a round on it yesterday night (after couple of beers... :?) to have a first look of it and it seems to be a nice and challenging course. You need to take your time. think before each shot and use different combinations of loft and draw/fade to manage wind, slopes and obstacles! I will definitely replay it (sober this time) tonight and stream it. I'll try to beat my even par score of yesterday! Good work PHJ314 !
Hole 9 for whatever reason, is the bane of my existence... I have played 3 times and have shot a 9,7 and 9 on that hole... Love the course but i need to find a way to play that hole...
It's long and not a birdie hole, play for par. Do not land to the right of the hole unless it's short of pin high, anything longer than that will find itself in the collection area off the back of the green. Left of pin, from the right hand side of the fairway is the ideal approach play . Again, it's play for par hole and was designed with just that in mind.
Shawshank Lakes LGC LGC = League Gaming Course (if Tris grants permission to use it pending review and course changes, i'd like to think we reserve that moniker for our top courses...kinda like TPC)
Shot an 80, very nice course. Greens are tough to hit the right spot but definitely a great challenge
Overall awesome job PHJ314 Couple things I really like about this course: Strategic. Couple of holes make you keep your driver in the bag off the tee. They also leave you with ultimatums: Go for the green with a 4 or 5 iron and risk it rolling off the back, or lay up and use a scoring iron to plunk one near the pin. The green speed is pretty fast, but once you putt a few it plays the breaks nicely. Again, I love that you really rely on your wedges and scoring irons on the course especially approaches. Only hole I didn't like was 8. I'm just not a fan of the long par 3's with such firm greens, even with the 3 iron over the 5wood its beyond tough to not put it off the back of the green. That being said, definitely adds to the difficulty of the course. I can also tell that many trees and doglegs play to certain shots. For instance if you decide to hit a 3 wood off a tee on a certain hole to put it short of a bunker, your going to have to navigate a tree towards the green maybe hit a draw/fade. Likewise with the doglegs.
I can confirm that # 8 will be shortened for the major, I thought the downhill might play a little more, but it's the hole I'm least satisfied with.
All four courses for the major will be released tonight. LGC Shawshank Lakes (Thursday) LGC Shawshank Lakes (Friday) LGC Shawshank Lakes (Saturday) LGC Shawshank Lakes (Sunday) Let me paint the picture for you. Come Day one of the major, the course is lush, greens and fairways are soft and receiving. But the weather for the week is hot, and not a drop of rain in sight. Over the coming days, the course is sure to firm up and start playing progressively faster. Thursday and Friday are your scoring days, it's before noon and everyone is on the course. You can hunt the pins and chase those birdies. Almost everything is accessible. Virtually all holes have forward tees, the treacherous #8 is playing no more than 145 yards, multiple par 5's are reachable in 2, pins are away from collection areas. It's time to go low! Come your Saturday afternoon tee times, it's like getting bit by the dog you love, and he ain't letting go anytime soon. The course is becoming firm, pins are tucked, even tees are tucked forcing to move the ball from one side to the other. There's birdies out there to be had, but you have to pick and choose your spots, because bogeys are lingering. Over aggressive players could play themselves right out of contention. On Sunday you're teeing off in the late afternoon, and the gloves are off, Par is today's birdie. The leader will be sweating, he's one mistake away from looking up at the next in line. You'll need every shot in your arsenal today! Draws, fades, lofted shots, you need to be on point both physically and mentally. Much like Saturday, you have to choose your spots. Holes like 12 and 13 are must birdies, while holes 8 and 9 are to be played for par. Those cute little Par 3's you enjoyed on the first 2 days are 200+ from the tips, and begging you to miss in the wrong spots. Almost every green has it's safe zones, but a few feet to either side could leave you scrambling. Today, the wisest of men will be left standing, while the strongest will be beaten and weary. Today, Shawshank shows it's might with the glory that only a Major champion can overcome. Many will walk away calling it unfair, while one will walk away saying it was the greatest battle there ever was. It's Major Championship time.
