Smit's Annual Post-bidding Rankings

Hey everyone so as you all know I usually do a write up after bidding giving my predictions on how teams look and line up going into the season. This season i'm doing something a little different.... I've collected a group of 8-10 MVP candidates and had them give their input and votes (To try and mellow out some of the 24/7 Trolls who's live on LG)

All team's received a rating of 1-8 which then were all added up and divided up by ALL of the rankings that were given. (The lower your score, the stronger your team inside your own division)


So without further ado and explanations, I give you Season 36's Rankings!


Eastern Atlantic

Identified as the "Cake Division" by some committee members. Playoffs will be a gift in the Atlantic, and many assume you will only need to go .500 to grab the 4th playoff spot. No other division had a bigger drop off from 3rd to 4th with a HUGE 2.429 ranking difference. Pack my bags i'm moving back East.

2. Hershey Bears (Score: 2.143)

3. Charlotte Checkers (Score: 3.000)

4. LeHigh Phantoms(Score: 5.429)

*Tie 5th and 6th*
Bridgeport SoundTigersand Springfield Falcons (Score: 5.857)

*Tied 7th and 8th*
WBS Penguins and Hartford(Score: 6.000)


Eastern North

The only division with no clear 1.000 rating to sit atop the standings, letting us believe that this once again is going to be a dog fight for playoffs. Another interesting fact that that out of EVERY single rating received all of them came back with Syracuse in 7th and Rochester in 8th. The Americans didn't receive and single rating point vote, the only other team to achieve the preseason feat is Stockton.

Belleville Senators and Laval Rockets(Score: 4.143)

8. Rochester Americans(Score: 8.000)



Western Central

This season in the Central we see the biggest difference between the top 2 teams than any of the other divisions. Iowa drops a long way from their old self in season 35, and starts the season staring up a tough climb up the rankings. Interesting fact is that 4 separate teams received votes for 2nd place, and was the only division to not have a tie. Pretty safe to say the top 4-5 teams are clear cut here.

3. Manitoba Moose (Score: 3.857)

4. Grand Rapids Griffons(Score: 4.143)

5. San Antonio Rampage(Score: 4.286)

6. Chicago Wolves (Score: 5.571)

7. Rockford Icehogs (Score: 6.143)

8. Iowa Wild (Score: 7.429)

Western Pacific

No other division's came close to having two teams fighting for that top spot to start the season other than San Diego and Tucson. Every single person on the selection committee agreed this was and will be the hardest division in the AHL. Any of the top 6 teams can make playoffs they said, but ALL once again agreed that Stockton is going to be the punching bag, with the Heat receiving EVERY last place vote.
