Well I just found out today that come February 2011 I will be leaving for Osan Air Base, South Korea. I will be spending 1 year over there, most likely doing police patrols in the local Korean cities. Halfway through my tour there I do get to come back to the states for 30 days, so that isn't so bad. I will be way off schedule with you guys though so unfortunately no leagues for me!
Hope everything is safe for you over there while you are there. Keep in touch on the forums when you can. Kinda sucks that it is right before the Superbowl.
Hey man I used to live in seoul for a year . It was great my pops got a job over there with the army .we lived off base and it was great .One of my fav. places to live i been all over the world .so i am sure you will enjoy it alot.Just a heads up the pizza hut and popeyes are way different lol . I have been to osan before and it was great they had a great shopping market outside of the base .were i got some sports memorabilia for cheap prices. if you any questions i could answer them for you later
Yea, I am looking forward to visiting the DMZ and such. My sister and brother in law live in Japan so they are happy that I will be closer. I am also very anxious to visit Seoul, I mean 24.5 million people in the metropolitan area???? That is Chicago times like 3! It will be a good adventure for sure!
Try 8.24 times bigger. Chicago, as of July of 2009, had a population of 2.85 million people. So that would be over 8 times larger than your home town. Now that is huge.
Well I was going off of Chicagos metropolitan population which includes suburbs. But yea, it is going to be PACKED over in Korea. 24.5 million people, ugh!
I was in Seoul a few years ago, it's really not that bad. It's a modern city much like any western city
Yea that is what I hear. I am for sure excited to check it out. I'm also stoked to get out of Montana! Awesome place to visit, horrible place to live.
I just found out today that after my year in South Korea I will be going to Aviano Air Base in Italy for 3 years. That is going to be bad ass! I'm stoked for that!
Man, things are going pretty good here. I have been in combat training the past few weeks mostly focusing on hand to hand stuff. We have been running about 7 miles a day and one of the days we did a ruck march for 6 miles. My ruck weighed about 65 pounds so it pretty much sucked! I have not got to explore downtown much though as I have been super busy. I applied for a job with Town Patrol. If I get that my job will be to patrol off base and pretty much deal with all the Army, Marines, and AF downtown drinking and causing trouble. I will respond to bar fights, robberies off base to military members, etc. It should be a good gig, I'm ready to beat the hell out of someone! I will post pictures as soon as I get out to explore some more.
Sounds fun. Do you know any Korean? Or do you have to have translator? Cant wait to see some pics, sounds really cool.
No, the only word I know in Korean is "halt" (jeongji). We work with the Korean Air Force guys and some of them speak a little English. As a whole though these people over here are really bad at speaking English which makes things difficult.
