Hey Everyone, Thanks for the positive feedback and great interest for the LT. PHJ and I are pumped to really get this league off and running and to make what we think will be the best golf league on the planet. We've chatted some more and come up with new details and info on our tour that I think you guys will enjoy. The game features 5 "themes", Rural (like in the country) Autumn (mostly the same as Rural but with a "Fall" looking theme) Alpine (Mountains, pine trees ect) Desert Links (Think British Open, Cliff Side ect) Our Tour will consist of 5 events in each theme, 1-4 then each will have a "Major" being the 5th course. We will most likely combine the Rural and autumn theme since they are similar. Also we decided that each week there will be 2 tournaments going on, There will be one "main" or "Featured" tournament then another for those who wish to play more. The 2nd tournament will not have as much points but still count towards your season total. Because in this game you can play alone and anytime, We figure there will be those who want more, and those who just want to play the main/featured tournament. With this setup we can achieve both. We are also most likely going to remove the "cuts" in a tournament and just open up the tournaments 4 rounds for the entire week. This is mostly because the game doesn't actually support cuts or dates, In the game we can only say our tour has "X" rounds in X Course. If we tried to add cuts we in vision a ton of people either playing their 3-4 rounds or playing it before the dates we posted in our intro thread. So Season 1 will be 12 weeks, 1-3 in Rural/Autumn, 1-3 in Alpine, 1-3 in Desert and 1-3 in Links ect. We've also come up with a point structure that will fit our needs, Its quite possible any given tournament could have 500+ players or it could have 50 players, Either way we need a point system that will work for both scenarios. What we have come up with, is everyone who plays would add +10 points to the pot. The more players, the bigger the pot. Then from there we divide out with a curve what each place would get. Example 1st might get 10% of the pot, 2nd 8%, 3rd 7% ect all the way down. Also everyone who plays and finishes will at least get points so playing will not be in-vain even if you are the worst guy in that tournament. Majors for example would have +20 points in the pot for each player. This system would allow us to scale a tournament fairly by the size of the field! As for the courses we'll use the best courses out there but also take your suggestions and your courses for our Tour. If you have interest in creating a course please let us know and we'll check out your work. As the game comes out, we'll post a thread where you can post course recommendations for the tour. Work on the scoreboard, features and mobile app is happening now gents! Looking forward to seeing you guys out there!
Good question So we dont want to wait on 2 or 3 users to try to get together for a match play cuz honestly, if there are 3 or 4, that might take a week. Also if there are 4 or more, it would be impossible to do match/playoff. So we will have some type of tie breaker from stats. Example maybe by eagles, then birdies or something. It would be possible that there are co-winners based on this though. It's not 100% ideal, But we believe better then the alternative.
You could also use whoever shot the lowest single round. Not saying that is the best but another tie breaker that could be used
Quick question here. After this game gets launched on Xbox One, how long are you going to give for us to get used to the game and create courses before we begin playing?
For a tie breaker, I had suggested something along the lines of: Best score in the last 18 holes Still Tied? Best score ion last 15 holes? Still Tied? Best in last 12 Still Tied? Best in last 9, 6, 3...
So playoff by handicap works by, you take the hardest handicap hole to the easiest, and you compare the scores until someone has a better score on a hole. You would also need to set a handicap up for everyone, meaning they would need to play like 5 rounds in order to properly set up a handicap index. Another way is to do scorecard playoffs, which would be whoever had the better back nine. If still tied, better back three. If still tied, better 18th hole.
Another Good question, Probably 2 weeks or so, We might also need time for good courses to be built. The learning curve isn't too hard, except for putting since that is all feel.
Yeah I've been watching a bunch of videos and like how it looks. I'm excited to make a course or two. Plenty of ideas running through my head.
Rumor has it is that this game will be cross-platform. If so, I will be getting this for the PS4 and joining the league.
so will we be required to stream / twitch archive our game play?...do all holes need to be played in 1 stretch? (I'm guessing this is a must for stats)? any idea how long 18 holes would take? ...since XB1 supports multitasking with the tv pass through...I was thinking I might do the front 9, pause and do something else (stop broadcasting)...then come back for the back 9 and start a second broadcast - name each segment something like "S1 Wk 1 Course 1 - Front 9" and "S1 Wk 1 Course 1 - Back 9" ...or will the LT tools allow for multiple segments (and then naming doesn't matter)? ...the other question - what's to prevent someone from re-playing the same course for better results? perhaps we should at least do it in pairs or 4's if the game supports it? BP
The scores would be tracked within the game itself and Tris would have the site setup to grab the scores from there.(Along the lines of the way live scoring is done for our NHL games) We would just set up the weekly tournament on the game, and you guys could play it at your leisure. We would configure the event to only allow one score submission per round per person, so no worries about that cheating thing! No need for broadcasting, submitting, nothing....just play your round, in your spare time you could promote how awesome the tour is and recruit more people!! Tris is working to get the API's to do expanded stats based on tournament rounds.
